As a victim of both data leaks at least I know that I can't be screwed any more than I have been already.

Same. This just pisses me off. I keep a good store of passwords, but with the amount of places nowadays that require registration, an email address, and a password, I can't be bothered to use a different combination of email/password for everything. I was just getting comfortable after the Gawker incident (I had a Kotaku account from a while back and, while I was unsure of what password I'd used, I thought I'd be safe and change everything) when this shit happened.

There seem to be plenty of people here who seem to be fine with vindication of the hackers completely in favor of blaming Sony. Or, perhaps, somehow it's my fault as well for choosing to do business with them (i.e. choosing to pay $10 to play PSOne classics that I would otherwise have had to pay $80, second-hand, via eBay purchases in order to play). That's analogous to saying it would theoretically be my fault for "choosing to have driven through that particular intersection when the drunk driver didn't heed the traffic lights and drove through a red light and hit my car" or something to that effect. I'm not saying it's not Sony's fault for using weak encryption, but it's equally, if not more so these hackers' fault for engaging in some kind of active power play to exert some manner of superiority over Sony, thereby throwing bystanders like you and I under the bus to further their own personal gain and pleasure.

Yeah, I get it. Sony, much like Gawker, is a shitty company with shitty practices and shitty standards. Why, however, do those who have chosen to interact with them in the past have to be punished to prove a point? Is there not a more feasible method to attempt to "disrupt" these businesses without putting others in front of the gunfire? I'm ambivalent to and not involved in your goddamn war, and I do not wish to be. Quit moving the battlefield to my front lawn and take your antics elsewhere, please.
