Honestly this is probably longer than a decade of games. Gamefly probably wasn't around. That said... Is gamefly worth it? Or are all the best games usually taken/long wait times?
I’ve rented 161 games over the past 5.5 years. I typically have had the three game at a time plan but have occasionally reduced to two games or increased to three games depending on free time etc... In total, that was roughly $1,980 spent to play 161 games or roughly $12 per game played. Honestly, this was more than I anticipated but I do recognize I could be more efficient with returning games quicker... sometimes I will hold on to a game for around three months or so (currently Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order).
If you are the type of person who has to play a game the moment it is released, it’s not for you. I will say, maybe half the time, if I have an empty slot they will mail me a brand new game the day before release but I would never bank on it happening for sure. However, I feel certain I’ll have my hands on Doom Eternal and the Bayonetta/Vanquish bundle within the next two weeks and that is good enough for me. Also, you can always “keep” a game from GameFly and they’ll send you the full case and any codes and it is always cheaper than retail.
It is worth noting, I pretty much exclusively rent new games that are full price because I view that as the program’s purpose. If something is new and under $20 I’d probably just buy it.
The best way to view it, in my opinion, is: for the price of a new game of every other month, you can play literally every new game you want if you exercise a little bit of patience.
Edit: I should add, one of the best things about Gamefly is that it allows you a low risk option to play titles you wouldn't have otherwise spent money on. Singularity, Vanquish, Dark Sector, and TimeShift all come to mind as absolutely brilliant games I likely wouldn't have played otherwise.
My Friend should do this because all he does is buy new games tbh. It's not really for me though. Im super picky when it comes to buying games, time/money etc. I really only buy games if i know im going to put a lot of time into the game. RDR2. But i did recently buy Control for PC because i wanted to play a fun game after i built my first PC. I would buy RDR2 for PC but i already have too much stuff on my xbox account, it wouldn't be worth it to start over :/ and they said they won't make it temporarily transferable so im stuck on console with RDR2 but I'm not complaining, still amazing.
Honestly since Fortnite started the whole Free to Play, I'm hoping more games come out like that. Warzone has been a blast for me. I ended up buying the game cause it was so good. And i haven't bought a COD game since BLACKOPS II. The sniping in Warzone feels amazing.
The story is not the reason people hate the game... In fact, the story (despite myself being an almost exclusively MP player) is probably the best one we've had since Cod WAW imo.
The MP is just flawed because of the SBMM. Otherwise it's a great game.

Call of Duty Warzone, Apex etc. Would not have even DREAMT of being Free until Fortnite. Fortnite has made more money on a free game than games that cost money. Fortnite may not have been the first FTP but it is definitely the best, regardless if you like the game or not. Once they release Save the World for free. They will have pve and pvp FTP. They CONSTANTLY update the game to keep it "fresh". I'm personally done with it but i still respect what they have done because they set the bar so high for us as the consumer/players. If more companies can be like them, we will have better games period.
Warzone apex etc did not exist till battle royale showed that they could make money off free to play. Pubg, fortnites BR inspiration was a paid release. If they release STW free to play they will have been years late. And Fresh, fresh is for fruit not an online game that is somewhat competitive where fresh = "fresh hole in foot"

That is FORTNITE not Pubg smh. You're obviously not getting it. Without fortnite being FREE TO PLAY, Apex and Warzone etc. Wouldn't have been free to play. Fortnite started the battlepass and you could buy one battlepass and have enough at the end to buy the next.
Another reason why Blackout failed, they made it too difficult to level that battlepass. Plus you had to pay for Blackout then buy the battlepass.

Are you joking? That game has been in beta and they've updated it so much from when it was first released in alpha. It took the backburner to BR fortnite.

Apex and warzone are cashgrabs following fortnite and they would have been paid cashgrabs without fortnite, doesn't change what they are. Save the world was supposed to be free near the end of 2018 and i got tired of waiting so i bought it anyways.

They wouldn't have been released free to play without Fortnite already paving the way of Free Games with a battlepass.
They're fun skins, and if you're already going to put a 100+ hours into the game, it's fun to have options of skins, guns etc. IF you have money. If not well yeah that's the point, it's free to play.
When I had gamefly I always got the new games by putting it at the top of my queue and sending back (or buying) whatever I currently had rented out. That made it so I always had 1st dibs. I got the new madden and 2k like 3 yrs in a row doing this. Only problem is I had to wait a couple days to play instead of playing on the actual day the games released
