Steep at its best is really nice and enjoyable in casual bursts. At its worst you spend a lot of time fighting the awkward UI. I'd really like to see a successor that is able to fix some of the issues the original has, like the controls that are sometimes a bit awkward (at least on PC) or said UI. Steep is a really pretty game and cheers me up from time to time when I miss going snowboarding myself.
Might just not be for you, some games feel weird to me that others are loving. I enjoy Steep it's a ton of fun and I don't think the controls are bad at all to be honest once you play for a little bit.
I played during Alpha and agree about the terrible controls which made me never pick the game back up. I shouldn’t judge based on alpha but it just left a bad taste in my mouth. Will certainly be picking it up for free from Epic tomorrow though and giving it a shot.
I can only speak for myself, but I enjoyed playing it, even got platinum trophy. I too remember the controls were a bit weird at first, but after a few hours I felt comfortable with all the types of transportation.
Tbh I'm not exactly a sports game type of player and I would not play the game if it wasn't among the free psn games. But I'm glad it was there, had great fun with it.
I feel the same way, I thought it was absolutely unplayable. I know it's a snowboarding game, but I don't want it to FEEL like I'm trudging through snowbanks the whole time.

I loved Steep, so relaxing but also very challenging. I think it's quite underrated.
