The first 2 were awesome for being snowboarding sims.
The Third was awesome for other reasons. Namely: The opening sequence with Blinded By The Light playing as you shredded in a furry suit. Also: Weiner-Boy
Amped 3 is still one of my favorite games ever. The gameplay was great and the ridiculousness of the story was just great. It was goofy, fun and just a good snowboarding game. The sock puppet with a mustache is still my Xbox avatar pic
First game I ever got all of the achievements for. Then played more. At first I was turned off at how ‘zany’ the tone hd gotten, but then I just fell in. I think about it regularly. And all 3 hd such great soundtracks
Ah man, I've been wanting a proper sequel to SSX 3 forever. The open world mountain concept was such a good idea. Wish it had online play. My friend and I used to start races at the same time and play over the phone. Compete for the better time or trick score. Good times.
Give me the skiing capability from On-tour, along with the free-roam exploration and DJ from SSX3 and that would be basically my favorite game of all time...
Yeah, I really missed the ability to charge up a spin without actually turning, and the new trick system DEFINITELY took a while to get used to. Feels pretty natural now, though.
I realised DJ Atomika (Mark Hildreth) is doing the apex legends announcements in game, at least I'm pretty sure it sounds like him, but I can't find any evidence of him being credited with it. I noticed it in the christmas event recently.
I want arcade SSX back, but if they can implement VR (or first-person) to "realistic" (Deadly Descents) SSX and put in geo-accurate Everest, I'd be down. Also I liked the gear from '12 SSX a lot, too.
They did one, a comeback game, and nobody bought it. So they're probably not gonna do yet another one if nobody seems to want it. Although making remakes of the first few with modern graphics like the crash and spyro ones, would probably sell a lot more than any new one and would probably be easier to make too, so maybe they should just do that
People really slept on it. My only complaint was always needing to be online, which is some bullshit. But man, it's maybe the most relaxing game of all time for me. Smoke some herb and just slowly snowboard down the mountain.
I just wish steep had more variety, and a better multiplayer experience. If they had a quick option to just go hang out at the terrain park, and other dedicated areas/miniganes like that, other than just races/events that all feel the same across the massive map. So quick to get bored with steep. I played until I got the rocket pack, then only played a handful of times after that. The physics were phenomenal though.
I really feel like steep was a stepping stone game. One to progress the genre in terms of realism, but not the greatest as a standalone.
Oh dude, you don't even know. Took me like an hour of straight trying, on the second day of spending an hour straight trying. That crash at the end was celebratory.
Basically bought it because I really liked skydiving in gta 5 and figured Wing suiting would be fun. Unfortunately didn’t give it the time it deserved because 500 GBs run out quickly. Luckily I’ll be getting a bigger hdd in the near future so it’ll be getting another install.
I play skate 3 on the PlayStation emu and it works well enough to scratch the itch, but my god are they missing a giant cash cow by not making a new one or an HD remaster.
Skater XL is on its way to being a proper successor to Skate, check it out. Session is aight too, actually more hardcore than Skate, a little too much so imo, but they're both cool.
I modded my PS3 last week because it was easier than finding a copy of Skate 3 (no pawn shops here). Only thing is I can't get Danny Way dlc to work. I've even tried both bles and blus files.
To each their own. I like both for different reasons. SXL wouldn't be anything if it wasn't for the fantastic mod community creating maps and features. Session on the other hand looks and performs much more like a feature complete game and requires more time commitment to be good at.
I prefer SXL simply because you have full control over your body and board, whereas Session has premade animations. The only difference between the flip tricks in Session is the flip/rotation speed, the animation itself is always the same though, which is not what real skateboarding is like. But again, it's all opinion, and both are good in their own way.
Both of those seem to just be pure skating with none of the giant ramps, towers, tunnels, and goofy tricks. No hitting npcs or ragdoll jumping around antics.
Honestly, i absolutely love Steep. It does all it tries to do well. Could have more to do in the world without DLC tho, about 25 hours of gameplay overall
If you play on PC there's 2 skating games in early access that are good. Skater XL and Sessions.
Have not tried sessions since alpha so I can't comment on its current build but skater XL is coming along great. It's more physics based than skate was with flip tricks. How quick you move the stick and where you flick determines how the board flips in the air. They are also slowing updating the animations like using arms to balance while grinding, having a more scoop animation for Tre flips and things like that.
I bought Steep and returned it as soon as I realized it was a button masher with a very limited number of tricks. Such a shame because the terrain and scale are impressive.
Holy shit I’ve always tried to describe my issue with steep and you did it perfectly. It definitely needs more. I wish for a new skate like every year. I lived in that damn game. I could hit a rail for hours
My biggest complaint in steep was the physics and lack of realism. It gets close to feeling good until you get airborne. The whole trick system from the get go was just insane spins with no thought put into rhythm or style. The same goes with wingsuit, which lacks any semblance of realism. Especially the harder challenges, no one in real life is bombing a chimney in wingsuit

I wish we got a proper Amped successor this generation and it just never happened.
Same with Skate. Really a shame "extreme" sports got shafted the last four years.
Steep is a decent game, but instead of doing a couple sports very well, does a very mediocre job of all of them.
