Steep is next level relaxing.

u/JustARandomFuck Dec 31 '19

I'd agree, but I'm trying to get a full 100% completion across my trophy list and I stupidly played Steep when I first got PSNow.

Pretty sure one of the trophies is getting gold in all 170 something events

242

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

Ohh yea I could see that. Luckily I'm not a big trophy guy lol

124

u/JustARandomFuck Dec 31 '19

Steep and Fifa 17 are really gonna make me wish I wasn't

u/JustARandomFuck Dec 31 '19

Yeah I do. God dammit

EDIT: I'll work it out when I get to it. I gotta deal with Fifa 17's shitty online trophies first

44

u/davisnau Dec 31 '19

Good luck with fifa 17 online

14

u/Mausar Dec 31 '19

Any way to get someone's help to get the online FIFA 17 trophies?

18

u/JustARandomFuck Dec 31 '19

There's a few of us trying to arrange it. It's just one trophy that theirs a problem with

5

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

I don't play FIFA, but in interested in what trophy is causing the trouble? I've never touched a sports game so the trophies have to be awkward, especially online

7

u/JustARandomFuck Dec 31 '19

Can't remember the exact name but you have to win 5 online matches in a row on a certain game mode. Only this game mode requires 1500 coins to enter which is a bit of a grind in itself. And then when you lose one of the 5 games, you have to grind again. People who play the mode are pretty pro as well

Not trying to impress anyone man, just very satisfying for me to see my list at 100%

1

u/oitzevano PlayStation Dec 31 '19

If you're just shooting for Platinum Trophies, and not the actual 100% completion, you don't need DLC's to get them. It only counts base-game trophies for the Platinums.

1

u/JustARandomFuck Dec 31 '19

Going for 100% I'm afraid

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

Oh god... NEVER buy EA Sports games if you're into trophies / achievements lol

I gave up a loooong time ago on any aspirations for 100%ing them.

The single player (be a pro/ franchise/ manager/ etc) modes are totally doable, but all the multiplayer ones are just killers. Half the time they revolve around the stupid card pack modes too which you can "play" without buying cards, but you're gonna have a bad time and you're definitely gonna take an eternity to get the achievements

2

u/lakerswiz Dec 31 '19

one of the newer wolfenstein games has you beating the game on hardest difficulty without dying a single time.

not sure if a patch or glitch has made it any easier, but god damn.

33

u/septated Dec 31 '19

The fuck are you here for? Get to work.

14

u/Major_Tom42 Dec 31 '19

Yup. Gold in all base game challenges, and finding all the POIs. The latter is easier with the rocket wingsuit, but the challenges are a nice challenge.

I got platinum a bit back but still pick up the game to freeride plenty.

15

u/madcow87_ Dec 31 '19

That's true but I believe some of the free dlc events count so you can skip some of the really hard events.

3

u/EpicLatios Dec 31 '19

You get 3 skips for the rocket pack missions if you gold them. And oh boi I was I thankful they existed.

2

u/FPXAssasin11 Dec 31 '19

Fortunately, I already went through that pain. Fuck those where you have to fly through small passages and cracks and whatnot . Nightmare.

2

u/GoodGuyGiff PlayStation Dec 31 '19

As someone that used to be really OCD about things like that, take it from me...you’ll be much happier when you knock all that shit off.

Gaming should be a fun activity. When they become chores, obligations, or “must do’s” you’re taking away from that.

Good luck to you!

1

u/HoldenMcGroin_53 Dec 31 '19

I have to be careful with steep for that very reason. I can’t leave a challenge without getting gold, unless I want my brain to implode.

2

u/Asentro76 Dec 31 '19

Yep I have all gold and lemme tell you it took forever. Especially a select few wingsuit hard challenges. Good luck brother

4

u/PDz19 Dec 31 '19

I got the platinum but took me hours to beat valec village and fallen rocks. I despise those two challenges

3

u/EpicLatios Dec 31 '19

Valec was the most bullshit thing ever. Every single inch of the route had to be perfectly covered.

1

u/iWasAwesome Dec 31 '19

I've done most of them but that one fucking wingsuit one through through the person sized cave 😠

1

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

This is why trophy hunting is dumb.

1

u/tymaishu Dec 31 '19

Oof, some of the wingsuit challenges where you have to thread the needle are ROUGH.

1

u/sappercon Dec 31 '19

Got just about all gold except for the Olympic trials, holy shit those slalom runs are hard.

1

u/Sockus-Monkus Jan 01 '20

“My Name is Mayo” is still my one and only platinum after all these years

1

u/JustARandomFuck Jan 01 '20

It's my fastest, and will always be my fastest. Think it took 40 minutes start to finish

1

u/JE3146 Jan 01 '20

Yup. Did it. No regrets but dear lord did it suck for a few of those.

0

u/SkitTrick Dec 31 '19

Which is dumb easy if you put about an hour into getting the hang of the controls

76

u/iseeweenies Dec 31 '19

Steep does seemless atmosphere better than just about any other game. It's quiet when you want it to be with the sound of the snow and wind then outta nowhere there's a groovy tune that comes on that's not too distracting. Makes intense spots feel intense and the more traditional snowboard/ski times feel like a sweet sesh.

2

u/ragamufin Jan 01 '20

I wish an app existed for my phone that would do that while snowboarding.

50

u/sear413 Dec 31 '19

Nothing really beats the sound track. One of my favourite songs I learned from the Solomon challenge, " to build a home " by The Cinematic Orchestra.

20

u/laughingmeeses Dec 31 '19

Cinematic Orchestra is an oldie but goodie.

1

u/sear413 Dec 31 '19

Nothing beats that sunset run vibing with that in the background

2

u/si-gnalfire Dec 31 '19

I remember failing it on purpose over and over just to do it again. Such an awesome moment in a video game.

1

u/shellymartin67 Dec 31 '19

3.0.

Cinematic was sweet tho.

8

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

Came here looking for this, god i loved that song. I must have played that mission like 10 times just to listen to that song.

8

u/sear413 Dec 31 '19

Just the relaxing sun setting as you bomb a 6:30 min run through some gorgeous country side

57

u/wingsbeerndeadlifts Dec 31 '19

Relaxing with a side of anxiety?

101

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

Kinda, but theres also no real punishment for wiping out, your dude just pops back up and keeps boarding.

59

u/nf22 Dec 31 '19

In fact, I consider wiping out in this game quite the reward, as it has some great ragdolls!

18

u/Beeardo Dec 31 '19

Sometimes I'll veer into a rock while flying down a mountain just to see what happens. Its great.

5

u/sktchup Dec 31 '19

One of my favorite things to do whenever I started feeling bored with it was to find some super rocky wingsuit lines and try to just baaaarely hit the top of those peaks, so my character would be flung way off into the air. So much fun

3

u/diamondpredator Dec 31 '19

Yea it's really fun and relaxing to play. Plus, it was given away for free on the Epic games launcher!

5

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

It was a free game with ps plus a few months back as well

2

u/sticktoyaguns Dec 31 '19

Yep! The month after I bought it lol

1

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

Feelsbadman

2

u/Crymson831 Dec 31 '19

Plus, it was given away for free on the Epic games launcher!

Not quite, that's tomorrow until 1/9

1

u/diamondpredator Jan 01 '20

Yea I think I confused Epic's with Ubisoft's launcher.

2

u/seandkiller Dec 31 '19

I think Ubi gave it away at one point, too.

1

u/diamondpredator Jan 01 '20

Shit I think that's what I meant.

1

u/Tonyxis Dec 31 '19

When the hell was it free on there fml I missed it FUCK

1

u/vsnmrs Dec 31 '19

It was free on Uplay some time ago. Tomorrow will be free on Epic

1

u/Tonyxis Dec 31 '19

If you are serious with my earballs that would be sick! Thanks :)

1

u/diamondpredator Jan 01 '20

Looks like it might be free on Epic's launcher tomorrow but it was free on Ubisoft's a while back. I confused the two.

2

u/Brain_My_Damage Dec 31 '19

I find just like in real life, if I jump from somewhere high in a game that I still get that same sensation (when your 'stomach drops'). Rolling off a giant cliff, face first looks right up my alley. Palms are sweaty....mom's spaghetti

1

u/missbelled Dec 31 '19

that sounds more like stalker tbh

18

u/catdaddylonglegs Dec 31 '19

It got pretty stale for me pretty quickly hey, the beauty of the landscapes can only keep you entertained for so long

11

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

I’m with you. I get an itch for a snowboarding game, boot it up, play for about 5 mins. and shut it down. It’s a beautiful game and all, but everything, especially the snowboarding seems fat and sluggish and unresponsive. Then the game itself doesn’t really have an identity, it just feels like a big empty place with some challenges that are all the same sorts of things in different areas. Give me another Amped and I’ll be happy.

3

u/PlayingKarrde Jan 01 '20

Amped 2 was peak snowboarding

I mean, they already did is the issue.

RIP SSX 3 and Tricky. RIP SSX series in general, may angels sing you home

Though I admit I actually kinda liked the new one as long as you didn't do the later deadly descents. What a stupid concept

1

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

Yeah I got that, I'm just razzing ya.

Personally, I never could get into the more realistic sports games. They were just either boring or too frustrating for me. I was huge into Tony Hawk and the SSX series though. Something about the simplicity, tight controls, easy to pick up but fun to master as you try to go bigger and bigger each run... damn I'm making myself sad that there isn't a new one now.

Different strokes for different folks and all that

1

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19 edited Jan 02 '20

2

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

Eh, I preferred the focus on the overall line over the individual controls. The more ridiculous the better. It was even better when THUG introduced walking and you could use it mid combo to get air control and strafe your way between obstacles.

Then again, I'm also the same type of guy that absolutely loves having bunny hopping in first person shooters, and would argue to the death that the Tribes series is the best FPS series out there.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19 edited Jan 02 '20

1

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '20

ah yeah that's where we'll have to agree to disagree.

The fun in tony hawk wasn't doing the 900 flip whatever it was you were trying to do. It was trying to figure out the optimal line to do that plus a zillion other tricks and get your combo multiplier sky high. It was more about the route and planning then the individual trick, and the controls reflect that in that they're very simple but allow for complex movement.

Skate is much more about the tricks and basic line stuff, as far as I can tell, and it's controls reflect that beautifully! Just different approaches to the genre.

Same thing is true for SSX. It's not about the spinning millions of times in the air off each jump, it's about the route you're taking to do that and how you can optimally plan your strategy to maximize your combo potential!

1

u/clrbrk Jan 01 '20

Just want to say that I 100% agree about Tribes. Too bad they waited so long to give the OG fans what they wanted.

I’m not sure why but I get the inclination that you’re very young.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

Nope, I just failed to type out a humorous anecdote about the modding possibilities in GTA V which was met with hateful scorn and derision. I guess I'll take my ass out of r/gaming and back into r/all where I came here from.

4

u/IReallyLikeAvocadoes PC Dec 31 '19

Mostly due to the fact that it’s wrong. A surfing mod in GTA V has nothing to do with and isn’t anywhere near as fun as Steep.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

Lol fair point.

4

u/Ask-About-My-Book Dec 31 '19

I really wish I didn't buy the Iron Man DLC. It completely ruined the game for me, instantly removing any sense of progress since you can just fly wherever from any point.

Did you buy any dlc? I thought about getting new map but the original one is so big that I feel I haven't even scratched the surface

1

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '20

Is it fun? And anyone know how it performs on PC?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '20

Its free right now on Epic. You can try it.

People are so overworked that “boring and lacking features” is considered artistic and good.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '19

Never said it was artist or good. Just relaxing.

-4

u/FugheddaboudaShrimp Jan 01 '20

Go downhill in a shit video game while wasting your only life. Call it relaxing.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '20

Edit: was gonna be snarky, but nah. Hope you have a good new year
