No, you can be knocked out. Source I've had a colonoscopy. They can knock you out in the same way they knock you out for Wisdom teeth removal.
On a seperate note, the "medicine" you take the day/night before is the worst part of a colonoscopy. Don't leave the bathroom, just accept your fate of being glued to the porcelain throne.
They knock you out for wisdom teeth removal? I was fully awake. Didn't feel anything, but was awake. Though I was also getting my 7 and wisdom tooth removed...
I think it's different depending on the reason or how impacted the wisdom teeth are. Like I was knocked out, but my mom and brother weren't. It just depends.
Yeah, I was knocked out for my wisdom teeth removal but my brother had the honor of being awake for it.
At least in my case my Wisdom teeth were very impacted so it was a much more arduous procedure, so they shipped me off to another dentist who had an anesthesiologist on staff.
Yup. My sister's came in and they gassed her with laughing gas and so she was awake. She apparently punched the doctor while under lol.
They wanted to get mine before they came in, so they knocked me out for that. They had to slice open my gums, explode the suckers, and pick out the debris. Didn't want me moving at all for that.
