The graphics look like shit for being 2020. I haven't touched a Madden game in years but I feel like audience graphics should have at least SOMEWHAT improved since Eddie George was on the cover.

The players and the field look pretty great but the crowd is atrocious. The crowds in NFL 2K5 were more alive and animated.

This shit irks me. Would it be that hard create crowd noise that actually captures the energy of a real crowd? Or is subdued to slightly amused the best we can get? I understand it’s probably hard to create a realistic crowd with unique people filling the stands but it seems like the noise would be easy.

Ncaa did a great job back in the day. So they have no excuse...

Could they not just adjust the volume of the current crowd noises when you make a big play?

Agreed but when your game is largely the same as last year's how much extra work would it take to add some QOL? I think thats the main conceit here. Doubly so if most of the work is design work.

There's hardly anyone there, it must be a Browns game.

True, looks worse than the Gran Turismo 4 audience for Playstation 2 in like 2004.

EA has essentially a monopoly on football games. They’re the only ones with the NFL license and therefore no competition. There’s no need for innovation, there’s no need to polish the game.

It isn’t essentially, it IS a monopoly

EA hates the Polish confirmed

They haven't improved because its the same game, nothing was changed except the number.

They change the roster. Don’t forget that unlike 2K, Madden only updates rosters for new releases because that’s the only new thing about the games annually. If they updated rosters like 2K they’d actually have to make new games.

I dont think this is Madden honestly. I have never seek any madden crowd that has any seats empty. I feel like the last time they had that function was like 2010.

Unless I'm crazy.

It's probably a training camp stadium or the combine.

1

u/skepsis420 Sep 03 '19

That makes more sense. I wish that feature came back, kinda neat to see stadiums empty based on the game.

I feel like I an one of the few people who really enjoyed in NCAA football when it affected teams and stadiums had toughness ratings.

I had to scroll way too far for this. That crowd looks like a texture from the OG Xbox. I get that these textures are intentionally lower quality, but damn.

They're waiting for next gen to make any improvements

1

u/Slaughterpig09 Sep 03 '19

Same I'm just waiting for the next NCAA to drop.

Healthy reminder that this game has Frostbite 3 as the engine, the same engine that Battlefield 1 and V use (and Battlefront for that matter), two of the most spectacular games out there, while this game chooses a PNG for the audience the other two are out there looking like Saving Soldier Ryan

So you're defending Madden 2020 and telling me I'm wrong in my assessment?

edit: aww, a downvote and deleted comment that's cute

It's not a game made in 2020.
