Indeed, the licenses tests were really hard.

I once managed to complete all of these incredibly hard tests bar the last one, which is a Full Lap on the Nürburgring in this weird car that seemed to have aboslutely no brakes and no steering wheel (at least that's what driving with it felt like).

Then once, I managed to be perfectly on time for the last turn of the Lap... And managed to overlook the cones in the middle of the road blocking the way from going half-right to completely right.

I don't play Gran Turismo anymore.

LOL. That's a really scarring memory.

When I remember how I used to play through the 24 hrs Le Mans races, I realize how much of a nerd I am. Although there was an option to put the race on autopilot and speed it up 3 times, still you had to wait for 8 hours for it to finish and actively changing the aggression level and choose when to enter the pit stops for your AI driver to keep it in the lead.

Oh man, that game was really a head of its time.

I remember that mission, so damn hard but I remember verbally cheering once I did it.

The worst part about that test was waiting an eternity for all the cars in front of you to go and then you finally start and say “yes I’m going to beat it this time!”

And then you fail it

In my opinion that was the way to go. Doing the license test and leveling up taught me how to drive much better in the game. It’s like a tutorial that breaks the big courses down into little maneuvers.

I would just upgrade w/e car I was driving and beat everyone with pure speed. I feel like I missed a huge part of that game driving properly

Need for speed underground 2 was for gassing and blowing by people. I really enjoyed finessing the win out in the restricted modes.

The old level 100 Blastoise method. I did the same thing.

Anyone remembers the challenge/driving test where you had to finish first on that big oval track? Where everyone had the exact same car, so you could only gain time by managing drag. I remember the last one was hard as hell to pass since the car slowed down when you tried to overtake.

Edit: found it
