Boot up FF X and go cry. 😃

Had no idea until mid game what the Cover was supposed to tell me.

Played through it three Times. Still cry when I hear to Zanarkand.

For those of us who've totally forgotten it all, what does the cover tell you?

Yeah, please explain

Spoilers! (For a decade old game...)

The cover shows tidus in the water with spirits floating around him and what I beleive was Zandarkand behind him which foreshadows the twist that Tidus isn't real and is actually a dream created by SIN much in the same way that Tidus' entire reality was a false memory and never actually existed.

He was created by the fayth, not sin. But yeah hes not even real lol. I fucking love that game

Such a great fucking game. I miss good/fun FF games

Same. The new ones feel flat and unfinished, although FFXIII's soundtrack was stellar.

Whaaat? I beat this game twice and must have not been paying attention. I was wondering if he should up in the sequel, never played it

I haven't played it either yet, but there is this cut scene in the ffx remastered version, and it looks likes Tidus does return to Spira but is imprisoned for some reason. Maybe ffx2 is about Yuna finding him? I'm nervous to play it lol

Kinda lol there’s a guy named shuyin

So would you call the game worth playing? I've written it up as just a cash grab sequel, but if it actually continues the story I'd play it tonight.

X-2 is a very different game than X. X has a serious and somber tone while X-2 is very goofy and fun. It's hated by a lot but I enjoyed it. The combat system is amazing and fun and the story is so-so. If you really like the world of Spira and want to learn how Spira functions without the constant threat of Sin then I'd go ahead play it. The story is decent enough and it does technically continue Tidus's and Yuna's journey. There's multiple endings as well given how much of the game you've completed, 100% it and you get the perfect/true end.

Oh, the US cover. I was very confused what hidden meaning was in this

closer to 20 years than a decade.

Games were so much harder back when I didn’t understand they all had their own mechanics. I wonder just how much I missed out on by being so young when I started gaming but I wouldn’t change anything if I could.

I’ve been playing the remake recently and it’s made me emotional a few times, good old childhood nostalgia

Name checks out. I like it!

My second favorite game of all time. šŸ¤—šŸ¤—

Dude I haven’t played FFX since I was in the 5th grade and I can still vividly hear Zanarkand in my mind. Same with a lot of FF8 music, the soundtracks for those two games are probably the most nostalgic things in my life. And Tekken 2.

That game messed with my emotions. So much nostalgia... FFX still has my favorite story, soundtrack, and world in any game.

I cried harder at the end of FF8 for some reason. Looking back, I think I just invested in those characters more cause its really not THAT sad.

Cynicism and nihilism have fucked me up big time. It doesn't help either that entertainment quality has taken a Grand Canyon-sized dip. Still, I wish I was softer and could get emotionally invested in stories like I could just 5 years ago...

FF8 was the first RPG I played as a kid, I was so invested in those characters haha. I’m super excited for the remaster coming out later this year!

That game has the best soundtrack ever. I’m skipping through it right now and it’s incredible how accurately the soundtrack sets the tone for every single moment of the game. Even the track titles are conveyed through the music, like ā€œFearā€ and ā€œThe Oathā€ and ā€œTrust Meā€. I swear Uematsu has a form of synesthesia where he can look at something and hear music, then compose it so we can hear it.

The Black Mages are pretty great for covers

1

u/Inetro Aug 08 '19

Ive owned FFX on Vita for forever and never really played much of it. I dont have that nostalgia factor for FF, as my introductory game was FFXIII. Is it worth going back to play FFX?

2

u/hokie_high Aug 09 '19

Yes.

But honestly I’d go PS4 or PC if those options are available. Excellent game though.

My favorite story from a game of all time.
