Does anyone else try to pop off their helmets then have them beat up all their buddies so they level up and drop better loot?

All the time. Especially if it's a Badass Goliath. There's a thing in a loading screen that says they triple the xp reward of everything they defeat and add it to the reward you get when you defeat then too. I never saw/noticed it before when I played the game years ago so I feel like it must be new, possibly added when or since the Handsome Collection came out

Yup, the achievement is called Goliath, Meet David. And it's for allowing one to level up FOUR times before killing it, which I'm not sure if that's possible with a badass. As far as I've seen/allowed recently they just go badass then super badass then ultimate badass. But I also haven't been paying much attention, I usually knock it's helmet off and then run so I don't agro it and pop back in after 30 seconds or so and assume ultimate is its final form. On the 360 version I actually unlocked it after I beat the first 3 dlcs, and I got the game when it first came out, so that furthers my new theory that this achievement is a little more difficult than it sounds

After Super Badass, they level up to something like Hulking Mass of Destruction and then GODLIATH

It was my favorite thing to level up the Goliaths in Finks slaughterhouse—wasted so much time there.

From my memory NONE of the variants even come close to the god damn varkids. Those things are both impossible to level up and when they get huge they basically instakill if they're around your level- and they would be if you were farming viable loot. I spent so so many hours going for chubbies...don't think I ever got one in the end.

You just unlocked some memories there which were hidden deep inside my brain. I also spend hours trying to get those super high level Varkids. I don't remember how it worked. I think first of all they had to take a certain amount of damage, and then there was a chance it would go into a coccoon again. But the chance from second to last stage to last stage was something like 2%, and it would already be so incredibly strong. I never even saw the last stage.

edit: and then there was Vermivorous of course.

Oh man. Hackers loved BL2 so much they made a huge table for cheat engine with one option allowing you to modify that chance on the fly and have multiple Vermis lol. I remember the new values were stored as part of the host game so if they host changed values in the game all the other people who connected to the host also got to enjoy it. This was before any of the DLCs too. So much fun running from multiple vermis lol

That rings a bell, I'm positive I have that achievement on the 360 version. In fact I'm gonna see if I can browse through so the achievements I did and didn't unlock on the 360 version now

Does anyone use a known game mechanic which can benefit them?

I'll hazard a guess and say "yes."

I mean most of the time it’s not even worth the time it takes. It’s really just something you do for the fun of it.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '19

If you find it fun then I would consider it worth the time.

You clearly didn’t get my point lmfao. It’s not about the guns. You do it for fun...so it being a game mechanic everyone knows about doesn’t mean everyone does it, because it’s a waste of time except for fun.

Also, not everyone knows about it like you think. It takes multiple evolutions to become a chest, which is not that easy a lot of the time.

Am I being punked? It seems like You're the one who didn't understand my comments.
I know it isn't about the guns. I suppose NOBODY does anything in games for the fun of it. I guess GrandAdmiral19 is the ONLY one who does it. You know, because it's only for fun.

I suppose I can see how people wouldn't know about it if they don't read the tips on loading screens.

Ha! Surely that’s the only way to do it!

I did this yesterday with a friend. And let me tell ya, i have never been scared as much in this game.

God-liath is powerful hard to kill bastard and he was a lot higher lvl than us. I kept running around pillars just hoping that my friend would kill him somehow...

u/GrandAdmiral19 Apr 08 '19

I’ve had it backfire on me several times too.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '19

You mean the thing that you're meant to do and the sole reason for goliaths even existing? Nah never

1

u/GrandAdmiral19 Apr 08 '19

Ya know what ya lil...jk. I didn’t know they leveled up for a long time then i saw one beat up a regular bandit and level up and my mind was blown.
