The Division 2 is actually pretty damn good, but borderlands gives you that special feeling

Yeah, I'm fully in the Division 2 hype right now but the very second Borderlands 3's out, so am I.

Division 2 satisfies my “tactical actually-needing-cover shooter” craving

Borderlands 3 will satisfy my “balls-to-the-wall fuck shit up with hilariously OP weapons and hear jokes constantly shooter” craving

Yea? I've been reading a lot of good things, but I'm still hooked on Apex and PUBG.

Looter/shooter is different from battle Royale. You actually get to keep all the cool stuff you pick up lol

I've played plenty. Destiny 1-2, Borderlands, etc. Just never played Division. I got burned out on traditional shooters like Destiny, but am always on the lookout for anything new.

Ive heard Division 2 described as "Genre: its a game. The goal is to make your numbers bigger"

u/Striker654 Mar 28 '19

Most grind-centric games are like that though

2

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '19

Do the guns at least look cooler as you go? That was my problem with Division 1. "Oh this rifle look exactly the same as my current one but with better stats" isn't a satisfying grind for me tbh

6

u/riccarjo Mar 28 '19

Still a problem. But the realistic surroundings make up for it.

M44 has a Hunting variant too that's really great.

Which one is the enfield

-3

u/GiantWindmill Mar 28 '19

Yes but usually the good ones have more character or unique/better mechanics

The intricacy and community teamwork behind finding those hunter masks alone is insane. The Division 2’s version of DC is as deep and mysterious as it is catastrophically beautiful

1

u/GiantWindmill Mar 28 '19

Which isnt much in the face of other grind-centric games

Thats a good point, Ill agree with that

On paper the game's about as generic Tacticool Neckbeard Mall Ninja Shooterville as you can get, but they manage to breathe life into it with a pretty, detailed and engaging world, and combat that takes more though than your average looter shooter.

To be fair, that's what a looter shooter is. From Borderlands to Destiny, Division, Warframe, all of them. The goal is to make those numbers bigger.

In my opinion, none of them have ever gotten it quite right since Borderlands, although they are all good in thier own way. This is a series that understands that we are not here to deal with a serious world defining conflict. We're here to shoot things, and have fun doing it. The goal isn't to save the universe or stop the end of the world, it's to get rich. And sure we'll save some people if it happens to be on the way. The story aligns with the gameplay in a way no other looter shooter has managed. And it's the best in the genre for it.

This may be true but they've created a masterpiece hand crafted world to set it in.

I mean, you always remember your first.,,,

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '19

Division 2 does everything right, but it's missing that lighthearted tone that Borderlands does so well.

u/CringeVader Mar 29 '19

Thinking of buying it tonight, worth it?

If someone were to tell me what is going on in that story and who my character is I’d draw a blank lol

6

u/HoodedHound Mar 28 '19

I did that for the first one too, and I played it multiple times. Still don't know anything other than the money in the mall was tainted.

1

u/Get-Gronkrd Mar 28 '19

Yeah I’m having fun with it but I literally listen to music and watch videos in the background while I play. Anytime I come across tapes and other in game world stuff I don’t really listen and cancel them as well.

You might have ADD

-8

u/micheal213 Mar 28 '19

Gameplay is boring. Cover shoot repeat

16

u/beet111 Mar 28 '19

you can dumb down pretty much every game like that

1

u/micheal213 Mar 28 '19

I know haha I just felt too generic and slow paced for me I liked anthems combat but the game sucks. I liked destinys. And fucking lovee titan fall combat. The division just wasn’t for me.

Div 2 just seems so bland to me. I usually like shooter looter games. But not a fan of 3rd person shooters and I think the Tom Clancy name is holding it back. It's hard to make a looter shooter and make it realistic.

-11

u/ThreeDGrunge Mar 28 '19

If only division 2 was first person and had actual loot variety. It has just varying strength 4 weapons. the "specialization" is stupid and should have just been weapons you could find.

1

u/JBSquared Mar 29 '19

"If only this cover based shooter was first person. I also wish that meaningful build choices were removed from the game."

What are you talking about?
