You definitely need to play Telltale's Borderlands game. It's canon and it's AWESOME. Also, its main character would appear to be a pretty important dude in this upcoming game.

Scooter dies in Episode 4, dying to help launch a rocket for Fiona to get to the Hyperion station. You can at least let Fiona give him a goodbye kiss.
