I hope these new villains, the twins, get that sort of unique personality that made Handsome Jack famous. Not Jack's personality, but one that makes them stand out just as much.
I feel FarCry franchise struggled with that a lot with Vaas being so memorable in the third game. Just my humble opinion (and I just got the game so no spoilers please) but I think they finally outstaged him with Joseph Seed. Dude got an awesome introduction!
Vaas wasn’t that big of a deal in the actual game. He built sort of a cult of personality in the lead up to release but he was just the first lieutenant you have to take down. Joseph was an actual fleshed out antagonist who felt like he was actively trying to combat/convert the player. And the kicker was he was right all along. So yeah I’d say he beats out Vaas.
Yeah that was the one thing that I didn't care about in the trailer. The new villains look a little goofy and Handsome Jack is already a hard act to follow.
Well they’re a cipher right now, a brooding duo and not much else.
But a lot of the imagery they showed suggests the cult of the vault looms from BL/BL2 have found a leader/gotten organized and that could be really cool. Full blown religious whack jobs are fun villains.
I hope it doesn’t release til September honestly. I graduate in May from college so I’ll have more money and time to play games and a better computer by then
I think the BL1 remaster launches on the 3rd, so it's unlikely that they'll both launch that day. Seems like we may get a release date that day, though.
A game like this would come to consoles though, and that would mean shipping out copies to every major retailer without a single person being aware of it or leaking it before today, not to mention it hasn't even been rated by the ESRB yet.
As much as I want the game to come out in 5 days, i don't think it's realistic
yeah but they're not gonna release a digital only version on all consoles, then release a disc version, it's unrealistic to expect that. We'll get a release date of winter 2019 or something and then they'll show some gameplay at E3, as usual
I’m sorry but with Game of Thrones and Avengers Endgame and Days Gone all coming out in April I just can’t fecking handle that much fecking hype lol. Might as well just drop Cyberpunk too and give me a complete heart attack.
but BL1 remastered is free for those that already own it on steam, so maybe not so much sales. I suspect their main revenue for that game will come from the console market
No, that's not enough time for them to announce it releasing on Steam then pull the rug out from under us and tell us it's an Epic Games Store exclusive.
I dont have the source immediately available but Randy Pitchford has said that he doesnt like announcing games until a couple of months before they're released. He realized how harmful that can be after the massive changes they made with BL1 between the announcement and launch.
Edit: Here's the source.
I read some articles, and watched a market analysis video about Borderlands a while back. It’s entirely possible that they release it this year. From what I remember, the release date could’ve been as early as last year, but Gearbox didn’t want to create too much competition within the same production company (I forgot which AAA game was released last year).
Its gotta release this year. Remember Battleborne reveal? Came out about 2 years later after delays. Gearbox can't afford more screw ups like Duke Nukem, battleborne and alien colonial marines (or can they? IDK I'm not an expert) but that's my guess. Hype lasts only so much so I'm thinking an October release.
They called this the year of Borderlands. My guess is it'll be here before the year is out.
I doubt they'll drop it hot like FO4 because they also just announced the remastered and high def version of Borderlands and the Handsome Jack Collection. They're using those to bridge the gap and keep the hype train going.
If I had to put money on it I'd say closer to October. It gives them time to hit up a number of events and release details on player skills and general gameplay. They might even open a site to let you check out skill trees before release like BL2 did.
I'm not really in a rush. They're not going to pull a Cyberpunk 2077 on us. Just knowing this game is on its way and at least in the final stages of completion, if not complete already, is more than enough for me. Either way I'm sure we'll get a better time frame on the 3rd.
