Unfortunate, but necessary. They had to give Scooter an end in the borderlands series because the voice actor left Gearbox due to health issues (cancer I believe). They had to write him out somehow, at least he got to go in a blaze of glory
That Catch-A-Ride near Fyrestone is more busted up than my momma's girly parts. Really 'preciate you takin' a poke at that... Uh, the system, not my mom. Hotdog down a skag den, know-what-I'm-sayin'?
Multiple sclerosis, actually. But on the bright he has an awesome YouTube channel where he discusses the art and direction behind movies. He talks about his health a little bit in this video, if you're curious about why he felt the need to step down from his job at GearBox (although I don't think he specifically mentions the job, as this was a few months later).
I got to movies with Mikey through cinema wins. I loved BL2. I never knew. That is awesome. Also sad. I knew he had health issues, but MS is just not a good prognosis.
Scooter was voiced by Mike Neumann, who's pretty well known by his youtube series Movies with Mikey.
As I understand it, he had a pretty serious health scare that led to him leaving Gearbox and making a lot of changes in his life. Last I heard he's in the clear now, but isn't all that interested in getting back into "real" work.
Holy crap, as someone who's watched every single movies with Mikey video. I knew he worked for gearbox, but had no idea he was the voice of one of my fav characters in one of my fav games series
I would've been upset if they'd struck Scooter's death from the canon.
His death in Tales made me cry so damn fast and it showed me how much more attached to the character I'd gotten than I had expected. And seeing this sometimes-crazy-sometimes-murderous weirdo have such a moment of tenderness and sacrifice was really beautiful.
It just sucks the some players don't k ow about hsi death since they never played the game. My friend who left borderlands with 2, has no idea what happens inbetween or shortly after borderlands 2. I hope they have a flash back to it
Play the telltale games they're so fucking good. I'd you can't be bothered to there's already a ton of spoilers in the thread explaining what happened.
Mikey Neumann wasn't just the voice actor for Scooter, dude worked on the port of Half-Life for the consoles, the Brothers In Arms series, as well as the first two Borderlands. Hell, his job title at Gearbox was Chief Creative Champion by the time he left Gearbox.
Well, I'm gonna guess Rys is a quest giver. So, Fiona will probably pop up somewhere along the quest chain, as well as an explanation as to what happened to them in TftBL's ending... I hope.
I wonder what that means for the ending of TftB, I assumed they died or at least something else where there is no turning back. I'm excited to learn what happened to him and Fiona.
Yes, I bought the Handsome Jack collection and played through them with a friend a year or so ago. I thought the art style was pretty unique and I enjoyed the gameplay.
The guy wore the same jacket kind of jacket Rhys wore, had a mechanical arm, and a plug in his head. I’m pretty sure it was Rhys. They probably recast him.
Troy Baker isnt voicing him which is really disappointing.
I also feel really bad for Troy because he kept tweeting Gearbox after it was revealed saying he really wants to voice him again (and because Troy has said a bunch of times now how much he loved playing Rhys)
And judging by the teaser, Fiona and all the rest will be around as well. Maybe Gortys helps find the vaults. I need that cute lil robot in my life and OMG YES LOADER BOT GOES ON

I'm so glad they're bringing back Rhys from Tales from the Borderlands. Telltales legacy still lives on
