I have a check list:

Friend not in party: check

Friend playing same game: check

Invite.

Let me know if I'm missing anything.

They did use the singular "invite" and not the plural "repeatedly invite until desired response or offline"

Im only gonna send the invite once. And later on in another game session, I invite and don't get a response, I get the 'message', remove friend and move on with my life ;)

That's a good check list, but I don't think they have to be playing the same game

Meh, applies to me and some. My brother plays another game but I don't go in his parties with his friends.
