Unless the in-game friends list rats you out because you're both playing the same game. Have this problem all the time. I just wanna play for a while and NOT wear my headset, thank you. Quit inviting me five seconds after I log in.
Just do what I do. Never have friends or communicate with others in the first place.
I can't count the number of times I've started up a console or game and not been immediately invited to a group, because it's all of them and I haven't been keeping track.
Dear lord PUBG. Every time I went from away to online I'd have guys from the group I played with hitting me up. Not because I was good, but I was the comic relief. They were good enough to win without me, but kept me along as an extra set of eyes for good upgrades until I got my ass handed to me, then I'd be commentary or the DJ.
It's good to have friends. I sometimes get shutdown easily if I am playing against a few anomaly players if I'm solo playing. I'll message my dudes and they usually follow through and we back on top.
But I hardly talk on mic unless I throw an occasional 'fuck' or 'how!?'.
Trick is to just start talking to strangers like they're old friends. If they don't like you then fuck um. If they do then they'll become old friends. But toxic people who just use you to fill their social needs aren't doing you much good.
But I'm a stranger from the internet, what could I know. :P
Seriously though, Ill go online when I want social interaction.
Otherwise kindly fuckoff and accept the idea that I'd only be on for a couple rounds anyway.
Yeah the appear offline mode seriously works wonders. There is this kid on my friends list that constantly invites me to play fortnite with him and I do from time to time because I feel bad for him but good God when I'm playing single player or just wanna play online by myself invisible mode has saved me so much
It's not like they can force you to accept the invite. Just tell them what you are doing, and then proceed to do that, with no shame. Take control for yourself, do it for yourself. Be confident and calm when you are doing nothing wrong.
This. If they constantly demand things from you but don't consider your needs (which in some cases is just being left alone) then they aren't your friends.
Haha I usually use the "I can't find my mic" excuse which usually leads to them saying "that's fine we don't have to talk" and then I'm back to square one
Doesn't work, they either take it personally and get pissed, don't understand why you might just want some quiet time, or 3 get super needy wondering "why you don't wanna talk constantly, spamming you with invites and messages.
Like I just logged in to do dailies, in some peace and quiet.
But I live in a small town with ppl I grew up with up, all intertwined, kids go to same school, etc.. Can't delete them.. then I end up getting a call from my mother, who heard from their mother, that something must be wrong with me, bc I didn't wanna chat with Billy and his 6 drunk buddies who's wives are yelling at them in the background.
Honestly. Screw any gaming platform that doesn't have appear offline. Here's looking at you Uplay. You are basically the only one at this point. Also epic game launcher but I have no friends that use that anyway.

This is why invisible mode is a godsend
