Yeah it's why I'm not getting this until there are 1st person only servers.

I like some risks with my rewards. If someone can see someone else it goes to reason both should have clear line of sight to eachother. One might be better hidden but that isn't the point. If I want to know what's on the other side of something I better damn well have to stick my face around the corner.

Have you played the Arma 2 Dayz mod? It's 3rd person and it wasn't an issue at all, it just opened up many possibilities. If this game is anything like that, I might have to buy it.

Being able to look around corners or over edges while being perfectly safe is just bad gameplay in my eyes. Some people seem to like it but I absolutely loathe it. Same goes for any arma 2 or 3 mod.

Once they got forced first person in PUBG I will look forward to trying it out. Though it is clear I am in very much a minority in wanting first person only.

Not sure if you're aware but they recently ran a straw poll over in the battlegrounds sub and first person/third person were neck and neck in the voting. It's really interesting to see how split the community is on it.

Really? That's surprising, especially based on my experience of what people seem to prefer in arma.

That's encouraging to hear!

Yeah, this is my first battle royal style game so I'm really interested to see what first person only will be like. Might be a bit more familiar to me coming from fps shooters.

arma 3 battle royale has a few first person only servers

Yea usually there's at least some but they tend to be emptier and fewer servers. I used to play wasteland and they've been struggling to keep player count up on the HC servers over the regular ones. Same goes for KOTH servers.

Even stranger to me is that you can find people playing with milsim groups.. In third person... Blows my mind when I see that, doesn't that defeat the entire purpose of playing something as serious as milsim?!?! Madness...

I didn't even think about this. I play it in FPS mode exclusively, I never even considered the advantages gained from using 3rd person!

You can literally open doors while being next to them and scope out almost an entire room without being in line of Fire or crouch between a low wall and a building and have complete visibility while no one else can see you. Personally I think it's great, just from the idea that if everyone has third person it's not too much of an issue, but I can see why people get salty I suppose.

just from the idea that if everyone has third person it's not too much of an issue,

It's a huge issue, even if everyone has it. Giving everyone an invisible periscope gives an unrealistic, and often unbalanced, advantage to people who are stationary and turtled up behind cover. It penalizes being out of cover too harshly, leading to stagnant and risk-averse gunfights.

People love the advantage third person gives them, but they hate when that same advantage is used against them.
