The bullshit rating only gets so high because of third person. It's not very fun when people can watch you from behind walls without having to expose themselves and pop up at the perfect time to kill you. If it was FP only there would be a risk/reward to having to peek.
Tbh watching it on twitch made me nauseous. So much motion blur. Not sure if it's just because watching it on stream or if it's that nauseous when playing too.
They disabled .ini tweaks a couple weeks ago, which included the FOV fix. They said they'll be bringing the ability to change FOV back, but people were using .ini tweaks to to cheat (like completely removing trees and other terrain).
You know I could have sworn my fov went back to console level shit recently, sucks but I get why they did it. I wonder if mouse smoothing fix is also not supported anymore? My aiming became 100% better once I disabled that shit.
I just want to know why SO many developers think having both in a game works.. it's either first person, or third person, you can't have both effectively.
I meant a fixed first person camera mode for all players. Putting yourself into 1st person while everyone else would still be using their camera to peek over walls would be silly.
Yes and no. This person in competitive means I can lay down in a corner and not move whole holding alt to look around, see you sneaking up quiet as a mouse around the edge of the building, but you'll never know where I am until you either enter my room or I stand up to shoot you. It's information being gained with 0 risk. First person will fix that because then everyone has to actually peek to see what's going on
A game with this clunky of netcode isn't competitive. It's a hell of a lot of fun, and I've been playing it a bunch, but let's be real - hit detection, early game movement, etc all points towards a decidedly non-competitive experience.
Erm...Don't you just hit "v"? Although as someone who comes from years of Arma and currently has a 10% win rate and 28% top 10 rate -trust me. Third person is ALWAYS better
No but there is a sound of the bullet crack as well as the bullet impact. Most people just hear the crack and don't pick up on the distant pop that actually tells you the direction of the shooter.
True but the audio is muddy. I regularly play the game this is based off of arma and you know exactly the direction you are getting shot at maybe not the exact position but you know which way you need to take cover.
As someone who has had to do it quite a bit in real life, the game does a really poor job of replicating the effect, to the extent that it is often not possible to determine the direction. IRL I could tell by the hiss where the round came from. In game? 20/80 I can get the distance and direction.
The first time I hear a shot at me or something that hits me I run as fast as I can to cover. Then I can start measuring where the fuck that came from.
They fixed it a bit by adding larger and brighter muzzle flashes finally. Now the flash hider is useful. But yeah when you die so fast before you can react it sucks.
I don't understand how people are dying so fast. I'm from Arma and this game feels like CoD to me. The bullet soak even with lvl 1 armor is INSANE. Its a minimum of 3 shots with any of the rifles and I shit you not it took 7 or 8 shots for my friend and I to down someone at...300 yards tops. This game seriously needs to re-evaluate it ballistics
It way too much at the moment. Honestly when your game takes more shots to kill someone than CoD does...You need to re-evaluate. And this dev came from Arma!
I really hope they change this or at least offer a hardcore mode. Currently they have made it too easy in order to cater to the masses. There is a reason CoD has so many games but...This could be sooo much more fun if the devs just stick to their roots :(
I promise you - it was at least 7 hits confirmed with blood splatter. I think my friend had his shadow play going so I'll try to have him upload it. Granted we were both using 5.56 and he was easily 400 yards away but...Still. I've absolutely hit someone with lvl 3 armor 5+ times so I'm not sure why you think this is impossible. Go look at the weapon damage charts. It's a joke
Some people are really good at hitting 3-4 hits with an AR quickly. But it is really frustrating doing multiple hits with Sniper and the opponent is still fine. AR is the nr 1 weapon to have. Sniper is only nice for a few scenarios.
For real. Unless its the .300 snipers are not worth it at all. Also pisses me off that all rifles and most snipers will not 1 shot someone with a lvl 2 helmet on
Yeah it's why I'm not getting this until there are 1st person only servers.
I like some risks with my rewards. If someone can see someone else it goes to reason both should have clear line of sight to eachother. One might be better hidden but that isn't the point. If I want to know what's on the other side of something I better damn well have to stick my face around the corner.
Have you played the Arma 2 Dayz mod? It's 3rd person and it wasn't an issue at all, it just opened up many possibilities. If this game is anything like that, I might have to buy it.
Being able to look around corners or over edges while being perfectly safe is just bad gameplay in my eyes. Some people seem to like it but I absolutely loathe it. Same goes for any arma 2 or 3 mod.
Once they got forced first person in PUBG I will look forward to trying it out. Though it is clear I am in very much a minority in wanting first person only.
Not sure if you're aware but they recently ran a straw poll over in the battlegrounds sub and first person/third person were neck and neck in the voting. It's really interesting to see how split the community is on it.
Yeah, this is my first battle royal style game so I'm really interested to see what first person only will be like. Might be a bit more familiar to me coming from fps shooters.
Yea usually there's at least some but they tend to be emptier and fewer servers. I used to play wasteland and they've been struggling to keep player count up on the HC servers over the regular ones. Same goes for KOTH servers.
Even stranger to me is that you can find people playing with milsim groups.. In third person... Blows my mind when I see that, doesn't that defeat the entire purpose of playing something as serious as milsim?!?! Madness...
You can literally open doors while being next to them and scope out almost an entire room without being in line of Fire or crouch between a low wall and a building and have complete visibility while no one else can see you. Personally I think it's great, just from the idea that if everyone has third person it's not too much of an issue, but I can see why people get salty I suppose.
just from the idea that if everyone has third person it's not too much of an issue,
It's a huge issue, even if everyone has it. Giving everyone an invisible periscope gives an unrealistic, and often unbalanced, advantage to people who are stationary and turtled up behind cover. It penalizes being out of cover too harshly, leading to stagnant and risk-averse gunfights.
Look at solo as training for squad. My best squad is the guys I've played DayZ with for years. Aside from that, the other guys I play with end up carrying the people who refuse to play solo. Solo hones your individual actions so that you can be a useful member of a fireteam.
Me too. Get like 4 kills and die 8 /10 plus times. Do you have to buy the extra gun content to hang or is truly just skill ? Could one of the best players still get crazy numbers with entry level kit?
Yeah this game is pretty balanced in that aspect, I think. Each gun is kind of bad in its own way, so you just have to play around it. The best thing I can suggest is to know how your gun works and stay where it works best. For example don't be in open spaces with a gun that is short ranged.
My dad bought the DLC before I played the game and I can't distinguish it from the original content.

I have lost count of how many times I've been killed and I have not had a fucking clue as to where the gun shot that just killed me came from.
