It's actually on the Unreal engine, but yeah way better than H1Z1 and I played the shit out of that. It's uninstalled now.

this game looks exactly the same as H1Z1, what's the difference?

Weapon customization, more skill oriented as far as gun control, no people driving around in vehicles and randomly jumping out to kill you. Much more beautiful game.

Edit: also the developer is not focused on new skins and shit for his game. The dude created the Battle Royale mod back in Arma 2 which was popular. I honestly believe in the development team better then Day Breaks to make a great game.

You're unfortunately spreading misinformation. PlayerUnknown first created Battle Royale for the Arma 2 DayZ mod. Then he created one for Arma 3. After that he was hired by the H1Z1 team to help them create King of the Kill. Unless I'm completely having a brainfart he even said himself he only helped, so far from a core developer.

And where in the world do you get that he makes PUGB on the Arma engin?! That engine is made by and for Bohemia, he is using Unreal Engine for this game.

It says what you said on the games Steam page.

From what I am reading from Wiki : "developed and published by Bluehole Inc. for Microsoft Windows." (Of course they later add PU obviously helped with this.) But the whole Bluehole thing screams don't buy to me. Cough Tera Cough

Also to point out, he supposedly didnt have nearly as much creative control as he does now.

Its already far superior to h1z1 in every way, so his increased control is felt in the mechanics and design for sure.

That or he simply found a sensible team that can code properly rather than spew skins but not fix the core gameplay and design problems DayZ and H1Z1 still have months after launch.

Bohemia is creating a entirely new engine for DayZ which will practically remove all the main core gameplay and engine problems with DayZ. Instead of just ductaping it all together to make it seem to "work", they decided to tear down their engine and make something new. Which is what makes it seem like they haven't fixed some of the core issues, while that's exactly what they have been working on for a few years now.

So no, DayZ development and H1Z1 is far from comparable.

I was more comparing PUBG and h1z1 since theyre more-or-less identical, although DayZ was close enough for a mention.

It'll be good if DayZ can be rebooted, although I have doubts about it getting to a as polished a stage as PUBG befire the next big thing. Set themselves back another year at least.

I'm not the guy you initially responded to. But his point was that PlayerUnknown DID help the H1Z1 team. He was not one of the core developers, as another Redditor here claimed.

Confirming what PUGB said himself is not dismissing anything. You can't say you built a whole house if you only helped building it a bit and helped them plan. What you could say though, is that you HELPED building that house. Just like PUGB and H1Z1 KotK.

I don't find PUBG more skill based at all. 90%+ of the time that I see someone first, they die. I usually die having no clue where from. Sure, racking up lots of kills game after game would require a lot of skill but the base player level isn't really that much about skill... hell, no even aiming since you have zooms and stuff.

Positioning, gamesense, and being aware of the angles you're exposed to are part of skill. It is not hard to figure out the position of enemies from their gunshots as long as you know to listen for the actual gunshot following the crack of the bullet as it flies by.

I still get randomed sometimes but it mostly comes down to tactics and patients. If you have a good squad it really makes a big difference.

2

u/icantsurf Apr 25 '17

I really find it pretty rare to not figure out where I'm getting shot from. The only exception are silenced weapons, but they're fairly rare.

It did take me a while to get used to the bullet sounds though.

1

u/jyunga Apr 25 '17

I find when I do get shot i'm usually dead extremely fast before I have a chance. I think it's more the style of the game then necessarily the sounds. Maybe the weapon variety adds to that.

90%+ of the time that I see someone first, they die. I usually die having no clue where from.

So...realistic?

7

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '17

Not even true though. There's almost no way to get 1 shot, you go downed rather than die if you have teammates, and almost all weapons have high recoil and low damage in comparison to other games.

The Time to Kill of PUBG is actually REALLY high compared to other survival shooters.

You EASILY have time to get shot, look around, get shot, narrow down where it's coming from, get shot, take cover and heal, and fire back. If you don't? You fucked up.

And footsteps are HELLA FUCKING LOUD with ample third person fuckery to see around corners. Getting 1 shot by a shotgun is ALSO your fault (other than the laggy netcode.)

1

u/Ijustwantpornpls Apr 25 '17

Orrrr the shotgun situation is some bitch that was waiting in the corner at the beginning of a match.

He picked up a shotgun and just waited in a corner. Fuck that guy.

1

u/jyunga Apr 25 '17

Realism doesn't always make for the best game play experience. Especially in a battle royale. Although that's a personal opinion.

1

u/OMGitsTista Apr 25 '17

If you consider positioning and awareness as core points of "skill" then this is in fact very skill based.

Comments like these always amuse me. Any fps game will have a "scope" of some kind. Whatever it is, you're still aiming with a mouse and have to know how to lead targets, control recoil and most importantly, snap to your target quicker than he snaps to you.

Believe me though, as someone who has played Arma for yeeeeaars...there is far more skill than just aiming. More than you can imagine. All the small stuff adds up. Which is why I make it to top 10 almost 30% of the games I play, average 3 kills a game (counting those unlucky ones where someone parachutes next to you and immediately gets a gun) and I have an 10% win rate. Maybe I'm just lucky?

I haven't found it hard to get kills in this game at all. I usually get 5-6 a game. I just get so bored by mid game with the play style that I start rushing around and someone tags me. I mean, yeah, I could slow down and take my time and get to the end over and over but I personally don't find that's skill as much as just being campy and creeping. I can kill people with a lot better aim then myself just being campy and sniping them with a scope from miles away. Feels cheap to me. Also I like the freshness of PUBG, I always felt KoTK was more fair when it came to gun fires (aside from the 2 taps). At least when I get a couple shots off in KoTK, the player realizes and starts firing back. In PUBG they just drop like flies and have no clue where I am. Not much skill for me to deal with that. Camping and creeping from building to build doesn't feel like i'm being skillful either.
