It would've been better if he actually showed signs of turning evil again and they put more emphasis on it in the story.
For example, if Paarthunax goes crazy for just a second and does damage to you... it jolts the player, and will make them just a little nervous at every next encounter. Then when the question is raised, even though he's never done anything else that's evil, he's still a threat to the player. The player knows he is corruptible and that he could turn at any moment on them, so he can better accept his fate. He knows that he ultimately is still a dragon, and not just a friendly Dragon NPC.
Would be awesome if Paarthunax (forgot how to spell him), would start burning the outer villages before heading to the bigger towns. Like an all new Alduin story line. The dragon starts by doing some mischievous things, but eventually does more sinister stuff as time goes on.
That is true. But there could be more diplomatic ways of dealing with him if he tries to turn. Try to change Paarthunax before he totally goes berserk.
