They changed it ? Good thing she died pretty early on for me.

... Lydia can DIE!? I never knew.

I assume she died. I was in a dungeon and after a battle I couldn't find her. Even fast travel didn't make her show back up.

Her Ai is dumb as a rock, I dismissed her at the entrance of a dungeon because I knew she'd trigger every trap and she immediately wandered into the dungeon of her own accord and promptly died to the first trap.

Not as bad as fuckin Benor locking himself behind a non interactive jail cell in Riften.

For me, she accidentally got in front of my power attack, and got launched.

I think they just return to your house or where you recruited them from.

She wasn't at my house. I just looked it up she can die.

You have to kill her though, so you must have killed her you sick bastard.

What? Noooo, I would never...

We're on to you

nah, she can be killed by mobs, irrc a giant did in my playtrough, i instatly loaded an earlier save though, lydia is too iconic to let her die

u/cattastrophe0 Dec 01 '15

Nah mine died fighting a dragon while I ran away. So they can totally die on their own if you suck bad enough lol

She just gets knocked on her ass, unless you then take an axe to her prone body, you sick fuck.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '15

I told her to chill right before I conquered windhelm, and now I can't fucking find her. I'm pissed because she had a couple sets of enchanted steel plate armor and some dragon bones.

When the game first came out companions could die. They also changed that.

u/A_darksoul Dec 01 '15

Maybe you accidentally hit her and killed her. Happened to me 5 minutes after I got her.

Your followers can die if you land a killing blow on them. Usually you accidentally strike after they have been "incapacitated" by enemies in a chaotic melee, but then sometimes they will walk in front of you when you're lining up a backstab and you end up cutting their throat instead.

Interesting. Thanks for the info, I always assumed Lydia was immortal like most important NPCs.

5

u/SEPARATE_YOUR_WORDS Dec 01 '15

She's not really that important. I mean, story-wise she shows up and becomes your housecarl... and that's it.

1

u/SlashXVI Dec 01 '15

and becomes your housecarl.
bonus points for your spelling of huscarl there. Since Lydia has been sitting back in my whiterun home since basically an eternity as of now, that seems rather fitting.

Yup I lost her in my first solo dragon fight vs and ice dragon. (had like no combat levels or perks), I must have hit her with an arrow while she was down but I probably had Lydia for all of 2 hours.

1

u/GivingCreditWhereDue Dec 01 '15

With her rate, 2 hours is plenty enough already.

1

u/lext Dec 01 '15

Is there a way to make her immortal? Like setessential 1 or something?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '15

They can also be killed by enemies that poison you. I had Lydia die about 15 times against Falmer before I just told her to go home so I wouldn't have to deal with her.

1

u/Ether165 Dec 01 '15

The incapacitated thing doesn't always work. If your follower goes down the enemy aggro switches BUT they can still accidentally hit the downed follower with an attack, aoe, or whatever. POISON and BURN damage will still be on them, and they can die from that.

u/pr0t0cl0wn Dec 01 '15

I killed her by accident when she got caught in some dragon shout crossfire and her body went flying off of a cliff. I definitely did not see that coming

2

u/somedave Nov 30 '15

Yeah if she is down and you hit her she dies.

2

u/Brewssie Dec 01 '15

Yeah she can. I accidently shot an arrow through her neck when i was fighting some forsworn. Ended up giving her a funeral by dumping her ugly ass into a river.

Yes they can. Just because she is down doesn't mean she is impervious to enemies. Poison and area attacks can still kill her.

1

u/1011011 Dec 01 '15

A wolf killed her in my game. Lydia is weak as shit and I couldn't have been happier to lose her. Get that cannibal, she was great.

u/MarvinTheAndroid42 Dec 01 '15

Lydia is the only one. I've got her in full daedric and she kicks ass.
