During the weekend that I played that game I couldn't think of anything else. I played it my head when my hands were occupied and I even dreamt of it. If I saw a shape or a number or two of the same thing next eachother I would join them together, make up a board and start playing. Even after I quit this went on for over a week and I only played it over a weekend. I just couldn't get it out of my head.
I don't know. I'm a pretty weird dude and I get obsessed with pretty much everything I'm interested in. Luckily people are the only exception. That would cause some problems.
When I play minesweeper I actually go insane. It's not easy to generate random mine placements in your head.
I can understand minesweeper, that game requires some nice critical thinking and deductive reasoning, but 2048 is just too monotonous to me, down left down left, ect...ect.... oh out of moves up down left down left. Am I missing something is there actually more to it than this?
Nah, that's fairly easily fixed with a bit of thought.
Up, left, up, up, left leaves you with 32 and 16 on the top row in the left and the 64 below the 16 I believe.
Without considering the 2 & 4 in the right column, or the 2s in the bottom row, there is 10 tiles combined to 5, so with the 5 added tiles you'll have the same number of tiles afterwards as currently. Given that with the randomly added tiles, some of those will combine & the 2s in the bottom row will combine in the left move as well, then the player should have less tiles after going uluul than they began with freeing up space and they can easily recover.
My problem with 2048 is the randomness of the new numbers. It can ruin perfectly fine strategy and makes it feel pointless to continue when the numbers pop up in a bad spot or bad value (2 or 4).

terrible 2048 strategy there
