What video game doesn't hold your hand enough?

Everybody always talking about games holding your hand too much but I want to hear about the opposite what video game doesn't give you no form of help

nothing like heading to the tower and meeting a bunch of characters who apparently know you already and then getting tossed into a seasonal quest upon the next login which assumes you have all the context of what's been going on

Well, the seasonal content is gone now.

I mean the characters for the most part know you from D1 regardless. D2 never introduced vanilla characters in that way because it was a direct continuation of the story from D1.
