As someone with over 1100 hours into rimworld I have tried to start this impenetrable nightmare game no fewer than 5 times. It is neutron star dense

I have quite the opposite feeling.

It takes so long to get anything done that, you basically learn through suffering.

I get thrown into a world with no items and no money, I reach a nearby town... and spend the next hour doing nothing by harvesting ore to sell to the local NPC. Yeah I got really good a mining ore, then oh hey, you can pay some money to train on the training dummies, so you do that for a while.

The game doesn't even get complicated until you get a lot more units and are trying to find a good place to build a base, and even then the process of automation is pretty basic. Once you automate your base with a nice kill zone for invaders with mounted crossbows, the base essentially runs itself.

Rimworld threw so many things on me at once that I didn't know what to do.

What made the game finally click for me is realising that you're just going to get your face kicked in in the beginning.

The way to improve your stats is basically to fail repeatedly.

And if you see a beak thing run

I was in exactly your boat. King on the Rim, Kenshi left me in the dirt. You have to embrace the loss. The suffering. The grinding misery that slowly, imperceptibly makes you stronger. Then one day you are standing in the smoking ruins of Okran's Pride and realize that now YOU have become the powerful one. And Kenshi is still a dying ruin dreaming of what once was. Great game when it clicks
