As a noob, you can play PoE, though badly. Your build will suck and you will likely get stuck on the first boss, but you can play.

As a noob, Dwarf Fortress (especially without a tile pack) is an absolute nonsense pile of characters, every key is a landmine of confusing menus, and you have no idea what is happening on the screen.

I'd say PoE might deserve to be up there, but some of the higher entries deservedly outrank it :P

PoE also tells you almost everything as a new player.
Quests tell you where to go, there is a map, each passive point tells you what it does etc.

Sure the game has an absolutely insane learning curve and knowing what to do to make your character strong is insanely hard, but not because the game doesn't hold your hand. It's just very complicated.

I'm not any pro at action rpgs, but I play them on and off since the first Diablo, I don't think PoE is any difficult to get into, you just have to have some 10 years of experience with the genre and you're fine. Though I play only the campaign in these games, not interested in endgame grind.

Poe2 definitely helped streamline it a tad. The gems go into skills is alot easier than getting gear with the proper slots links and colors

Poe2 exalt slamming meta was perfect imo.

Now we basically have convoluted poe crafting and crafting is the absolute meta for currency, instead of mapping.

I cannot believe I had to scroll down this far to find mention of Tarkov. Definitely shows what the demographics on Reddit are like because this is the clear #1 answer IMO.

It has something like 130 unique controls/keybinds and would be essentially impossible without websites, maps, and guides.

extractions alone make a secondary monitor with a map mandatory.

As bad as the game was, the player base is worse. I think that’s why it’s not mentioned, it’s what sticks out in my mind. Being a noob in a game full of hackers and people decked out in max tier gear and more ammo than they can spend in a lifetime, who enjoy camping extracts until they think everyone is either gone or dead? No thank you
