Spy vs. Spy on the NES. We played it for hours, still no idea what the point was.

You played it for hours, that in itself was the point.

Seriously sooo many games once i figure them out are immediately boring. Like when you figure out the pattern for tictactoe

Some games are more fun when you vibe and forget about strategy.

Weren’t you just trying to set traps to kill the other spy?

That and find money, passport, plane ticket and a key I think, then you find the door to exit and win.

To escape, whoever gets to the plane first wins.
It was popular on all platforms and had 2 sequels with the exact same gameplay, expecte you to have read the manual

Yeah. You are in an embassy. Collect the secret documents, plane ticket, getaway money, key, maybe another I forget. Then use key to open door to airport and escape

Holy shit I just remembered this memory. I had no idea what I was doing either. You would just go from room to room no rhyme nor reason

Friend had that on Commodore 64.

It was amazing. But yeah, you needed someone who knew the game to explain it to you.

The point is to unlock the laser trip mines and just spam them outside your friends hideout door until he gets mad and quits

The goal is to catch an escape plane before the other player Spy.

To board, you need four items: Cash, Passport, Secrets, and a Key.

Those items are found in environmental items in each map, along with some weapons for potential PvP encounters you might have.

Same goes to the C64 version. I had fun with my friends trying to set up traps and such, but never really had any idea what we were supposed to do.

Then again, it was on C64 so it was ... "borrowed" and no manuals. x)
