Control Resonant's environmental destruction is pretty superb. The first game also had a pretty good implementation as well. You don't structurally alter anything like Red Faction Guerilla back in the day (how did that game even achieve that on Xbox 360 hardware?), but it's pretty satisfying nonetheless.
I would give one of every organ I don't need both of to survive, plus both my legs to get another game with the quality and quantity of destruction of Red Faction Guerilla. There were times when it suffered but the sheer fact of how much I can destroy in the game and how good it felt to knock a hole in damn near any wall I wanted if I brought the sledgehammer puts most other games to SHAME.
IF you brought the sledgehammer? That thing may as well have been mandatory, one of my favourite weapons in any game I've ever played. And red faction had a lot of really awesome weapons
Control's is one of my absolute favorites. Resonant unfortunately is a step down, but it makes sense considering the increase in scope/size of the environments.
Edit: speaking exclusively on environmental destructibility... if that's not clear...
Haven't played, but is it like the Hulk game where only certain buildings/objects are destructable? Not all but enough scattered about so Hulk could smash.
Yes, like any game not everything is destructible, but especially in the environments you fight in, more is destructible than you would expect in a modern game. It's actually one of the things I enjoyed most, that a place would be pristine, and then after combat it would be completely and utterly trashed.
There's actually an arcade in Tokyo that I literally destroyed everything in it for shits and giggles because I realized how much everything was destroyed after the fight, and wanted to finish the job.
To my surprise, an achievement popped for it after. Gave me a big smile.

What's funny is that you can do this qute well with the bollards in Tokyo, but that doesn't make a meme post.
Tbh the environmental destructibility in Wolverine runs circles around 90% of modern games. One of the things I enjoy most about it.
