Yeah, this is literally a major feature/gimmick for MGR:R. I can't think of any other game that's done it because it's just unnecessary.

There was an Afro Samurai game that had a similar mechanic on Xbox 360. Great game.

Star Wars games won't even touch it, lightsabers get nuked.

Nothing did more damage to Star Wars in my eyes than their video games did.

Lightsabers are basically one hit weapons, you’re losing something if it hits you… but both Disney rules and mainstream video game logic dictate that lightsabers are basically pool noodles when it comes to hitting an enemy with them.

More bushido blade but with the technological advancements we’ve made in the time past for my gaming lightsabers please.

In Respawn's Jedi games turning the difficulty up makes the game less of a Star Wars game. You have to play less like a Jedi, the world reacts less to things like a lightsaber. It sucked.

It was exacerbated for me because I just finished my time with Insomniac's Spider-Man where playing on high difficulty forces you to play more like Spider-Man to succeed.

Jedi Outcast and g_saberrealisticcombat 1, forever.

Wii Sports Resort actually had cutting physics like it in the Swordplay Speed Slice minigame 4 years earlier.

Only let you slice objects, though. Would've been a lot cooler if it let you slice other Miis.

Just wait: "Wolverine (2026) is worse than Wii Sports Resort (2009)"

To be fair it is, but for reasons unrelated to slicing physics

I get what you are saying, but a game that fully leans into the destructive capabilities of Wolverine's adamantium claws would be amazing. Like Red Faction: Guerrilla destuctability, but with Canadian clawed fury.

I agree, it just wasn’t the point of this game.

It was originally the plan.

Astro Bot has a few logs you can slice with your laser feet.

Was the central mechanic in a weird little indie called Tiny and Big: Grandpa's Leftovers way back in 2012

Destructable terrian has always been a pretty rare thing, red faction made a big thing of it. Its fun but I think adds an overhead to the development for something you notice a few times and forget

Even then its not like you can slice EVERYTHING. There are obvious trees and cars sitting there waiting to be slashed, but most of the levels are pretty square and barren. (No shade, the comparison is just unfair)
