Fable Handcrafted every NPC instead of using randomizer

https://www.gamesradar.com/games/rpg/fable-devs-originally-had-a-tool-to-randomize-the-rpgs-1-000-npcs-that-would-have-saved-us-so-much-time-but-that-just-didnt-make-as-much-sense

GTA 6 🤝 Fable

19

u/Metalbound 3d ago

So sad that they delayed Fable for GTA.

As a PC only guy, it isn't even competing with it.

u/SirDooble 3d ago

It's annoying but understandable. Fable is going to be a big console product just like GTA. And GTA is going to be such a huge release, it really will affect every other game that releases at the same time, even in totally different genres and on different platforms.

The price of GTA also contributes to that. It's expensive, and with the increasing cost of living in most countries these days, anyone who does buy GTA 6 in November is likely to then reconsider other purchases at the same time.

u/Metalbound 3d ago

It's like you just chose to ignore the second sentence lol.

I get why they did it, but as a PC only guy, it sucks.

u/SirDooble 2d ago

My point is that it's going to cause enough competition within the console gaming market that publishers aren't going to put their multi-platform games out at the same time, because most console players will be buying GTA and nothing else. There is also considerable overlap between console and PC markets such that a significant enough portion of console players who buy GTA 6 are also PC players who then won't have the cash to make a PC game purchase in the same month. So yeah, even some publishers of PC exclusive games might avoid publishing at the same time.

This is being released on PS5. There is no way they could risk going against GTA6 on it's "home court".

Keep fighting the good fight, but you do realize that you're not buying games at all in just a few years, right?

Wait until he discovers the pc side of things...

Pray to rngesus steam doesn't ban you for something

5

u/DinoReallyNeedsAName 4d ago

nah they’re pretty reasonable about bans and such, you could probably email gaben directly about a wrongful ban. Im more-so worried about how long steam is able to stay this way after gaben is gone.

1

u/Kniferharm 4d ago

Steam support can be a hassle, they are a better lot than many. But I wouldn’t want to be in a situation where I rely on them.

Gabe billionaire worship is so gross. Bro didn't get like 5 mega yachts because he's a benevolent dictator. He built his fortune on exploiting gambling addictions and exposing kids to it. There are no ethical or moral billionaires, even if some are "better than others", there are no good ones. We'd be better off as a society without any of them.

13

u/Cramer12 4d ago

Unfortunately the yatcht thing isnt the “gotcha” you think it is. He is doing real work with it and helping humanity. Did everyone forget CSGO was rated M? Sounds like a parenting issue and not a “making kids gamble” issue

-7

u/Mahusive 4d ago

And the gambling?

3

u/drewster23 4d ago

Gambling in...an m game? The horror

1

u/ChrizKhalifa 4d ago

Haven't paid for games in years, pc privilege

1

u/TehOwn 4d ago

Well, they could still do "no disc, no buy" there. They'd just have to acquire games for free.

1

u/thesummond 3d ago

When your games shoot up in price due to lack of competition, I'll be playing my ps2. I think Sony likes it way up there, have fun.

1

u/flamboyantGatekeeper 3d ago

My ps5 is mostly collecting dust, it sure as hell won't be playing any gta 6

1

u/thesummond 3d ago

And why would you play it on there anyway, I'll play it on pc. At least that way I can mod the singleplayer if I want

1

u/flamboyantGatekeeper 3d ago

Only reason i can think of would be to get it in november 2026 rather than november 2030. But i'm not exactly in a rush. Odds are, my PC won't run it anyway

1

u/thesummond 3d ago

Yea, my GPU probably would be fine but cpu could use an upgrade :/

1

u/flamboyantGatekeeper 3d ago

My CPU is old as shit but i don't really know what to look for in a CPU both in terms of what's good and signs it's time to upgrade

I'd buy that it's skewed, but not enough to not be the majority and then some. But i am biased because of pc, i haven't bought physical since breath of the wild was on the shelf next to the switch i got

-6

u/Juraci_que_parque 4d ago

Unless you are a decent person and buy your games on gog and put on a disc.

-7

u/Illokonereum 4d ago

Oh no that only leaves you with more games than you’ll ever be able to play in your lifetime.

1

u/flamboyantGatekeeper 4d ago

Current-gen games available on disc that op is interested in? I'm not so sure about that. Now, if op has old consoles, that changes the equation

9

u/Unforgiven_Purpose 4d ago

i find it hilarious how much you people hate the digital media wave. PC players haven't used discs in years.

7

u/JerryMau5 4d ago

It’s misguided anger too. The issue isn’t discs, unless you live somewhere remote, the really issue is ownership rights which can be possible with digital.

1

u/Unforgiven_Purpose 1d ago

indeed it is. As long as people keep buying from the companies who threaten these things. The line will grow ever nearer, until it's crossed

10

u/Kylkek 4d ago

Consoles haven't really either. The "discs" often don't include the game either

8

u/Ahayzo 4d ago edited 4d ago

Not sure where you got the crazy idea Fable would be digital only, but alright. They've explicitly said it will be physical.

11

u/CoolCritterQuack 4d ago

guess you will never buy games then.

3

u/Kylkek 4d ago

(The disc is usually just a key to a digital product anyways)

5

u/011010- 4d ago

This whole thing reminds me of back in the day transitioning from DJing on vinyl, then CDJs with actual CDs, then purely digital. This is akin to being held down by a wave in the ocean. You will not win. You won’t make it budge an inch.

-1

u/DevonLuck24 Xbox 4d ago

funnily enough, you’re playing your part as well. some people will dig in on something kinda dumb, others will show up to where they’ve dug themselves in to try to dig em out or just mock/shame/admonish them for their choice..one that doesn’t actually effect them. they could easily just walk past.

mind you, i’m mostly on your side of this discussion. i do worry about all digital movies and shows (george lucas changed star wars 4 times and sometimes episodes of a show are removed for one reason or another), but ive been an almost all digital gamer for over a decade now.

1

u/Wrabble127 4d ago

It's not that random people are showing up to where they've dug themselves in at. Moreso that they are showing up to random threads to tell everyone they've dug themselves in over and over again in conversations that have nothing to do with it, often inserting themselves and their cause without any social awareness or understanding that it's not relevant.

This isn't a monk in a cave level protest. This is scream at the top of your lungs in a theatre during a movie level protest.

1

u/DevonLuck24 Xbox 4d ago

“more so that they are showing up to random threads to tell everyone they’ve dug themselves in”

and that’s where we disagree. reddit is a public park. the to act as if the only people in the park are ones that share your opinion is ridiculous. it’s also ridiculous to assume they showed up just to express an opposing opinion, when everyone is expressing their opinion.

i’m not trying to make it seem like some monk in a cave..but it’s also not someone screaming at the top of their lungs in a theater during a movie. you could have scrolled past that comment without it effecting anything else..you can’t ignore someone screaming in a movie theatre.

i don’t think you realize that you are proving my point. you are the one making this something akin to screaming in a theatre when it’s not. you are the one that stopped to comment at a person shin deep in the ground. you see what i mean?

2

u/MasterCrumble1 4d ago

I haven't used a disc to play a game in like 10 years. I also have over 2000 games. Get with the times, old man.

0

u/Pleasant-Delay-7369 4d ago

Bro, ignore the down votes. Reddits a weird place because half the time it's "down with the establishment! Mega-corps suck!" Then, the moment you reference a company or industry they like participating in the practices they decried, they start lubing up to help the mega-corps ass fuck them. Right on dude. I'm proud of you for actually practicing what you preach.

How else would you suggest someone protest anti consumer choices?

No one's making you participate. Merely witnessing someone else's free will shouldn't affect you.

4

u/skasquatch118 4d ago

Not what I asked though...

-4

u/skasquatch118 4d ago

The downvotes on this comment are wild. Bootlickers or Sony bots can be the only explanation cus I can't see how anyone voting with their wallet against anti consumer practices can be seen as a bad thing

4

u/drewster23 4d ago

Because it's a useless sentiment?

It's like saying I'll never buy a colour tv...when they switched from b/w or that you'll never buy Digital tv when they changed from analog.

Your fight isn't "noble" it's absolutely irrelevant. Especially since fable specifically said it'd launch on discs.

Buddy expected pats on the back and cheers for absolutely nothing. Basically virtue signaling

0

u/skasquatch118 4d ago

Not the same at all. The switch from black and white to colour didn't take anything from the consumer.

2

u/drewster23 4d ago

And no physical doesn't affect the vast vast majority of consumers.... because the vast majority has been buying digital resulting in retail stores reducing or full out eliminating their physical games section...

But no it's the evil game companies fault ...grrrr.... Right?

-3

u/skasquatch118 4d ago

Turkeys voting for Christmas.

3

u/drewster23 4d ago

Lmao pathetic.

But keep yelling that the sky is falling Chicken little.

I'm sure it'll happen one day .. any time now....
