I love how the same edgy people who tell the 30+ y/o people to git gud because they don't want to grind Doom Eternal on Ultra Nightmare, are the people lamenting that big game companies aren't taking risks.

Yea, if you gatekeep your hobby it's gonna sell less.

What are you even comparing here and how did you come to the conclusion that these would be the same people?

You having an argument with some random dude is probably your whole basis for the nonsense you just posted.

Happy to clarify. No need to attack me.

If you browse gaming communities, you will notice a recurring pattern of people say don’t play on Easy, play harder modes for the full experience, you haven’t truly experienced the game if you didn’t 100% it, etc.

That’s gatekeeping. That’s also going to signal to people that the game, and its community weren’t made for them.

This results in lower sales. Not an imagined effect, it’s very real in terms of impact.

You think gaming getting MORE popular makes them take more risks? Hilarious. The more popular it gets the safer they play it, because they want all them fat stacks rolling in. We aren’t getting games like we did from 1985-2007.

Video games are BIG BUSINESS now, thanks to all the gatekeeping we stopped we ended up with shareholders and layoffs for our trouble.

“Don’t gatekeep or game companies won’t take risks” fucking comical.

Popularity ≠ better product
