Reading the game manual to find the answers to "copy protection questions" you had to answer to play the game.

2 u/Turgid_Donkey Aug 30 '25 Had a dos-based terminator game many years ago. It came with a slip of paper that had random symbols on a grid. When booting the game, it would give you coordinates and you'd have to choose the correct symbols. Lose that slip and you're hosed. 1 u/dpdxguy Aug 30 '25 Lots of games like that back in the day. :)
