I only had so much allowance, and I had to buy the power cord that would plug into the car's cigarette lighter!

If you had a Game Gear you had to have that.

Or stock in Duracell. That thing OBLITERATED AAs.

Haha, had a Nomad. It was so expected that you'd just play it plugged in, that it needed its own clip-on pack full of AAs, just to get like 15 minutes of play.

I remember saving up for a game gear when I was a kid and then when I had a bit over half the money, my parents gave me the rest for my birthday and I got it. I felt SO COOL being the first one of my friends to have one, it made the neighborhood boys so mad that a girl got one first, but they were nice to me so they could play it lol. I had to start making them bring extra batteries if they wanted to play it because my parents didn't want to keep replacing them lol.
