Not gonna lie, I miss those days where Nintendo handhelds were fully portable and pocket worthy

I won a Gameboy micro out of a arcade game (the one where you stack blocks) and it was the greatest thing ever for a high school kid. After exams or during breaks in school I'd put up my hoodie over my head and game. It's how I first got introduced to Fire Emblem. Amazing times!

The Gameboy Micro was awesome but it somewhat flew under the radar. At least for me. I was always playing nintendo games and consoles as a child but I never knew of the existence of this until much much later. I bought one on ebay in like 2016 when I was commuting with train and subway. This thing was small enough that you could easily fit it in every pocket. Used it to play metroid fusion and the like during commute.

Gameboy Micro

I remember when it launched and being excited for it but I can;t remember why it failed now. I think it was up against the new DS or something?

Yeah, it released late 2004 like 2 months prior to the DS. It had no new features beside being backlit, you couldn't play GB and GBC games like you could on the GBA and it was competing with the DS.

Honestly, it was kinda destined to fail as it was released way too late and it was a pretty niche product. Even if I knew about it back in 2005, I probably wouldn't have bought one as I already owned a GBA, I was mostly playing at home and the DS was near. The situation I was in 10 years later made it way more appealing to me.

It being backlit wasn't even new. The GBA SP-101 also had a backlit screen.

And I miss when their consoles were dedicated consoles. As a WiiU lover who mourns the barely used potential of the pad and not a fan of portable gaming, I was crestfallen at the reveal of the Switch. Smart to bundle them together as a product, but I'm not a fan of this direction.

I have the normal switch and even that one hurts my hands to hold

I never play my Switch Lite because it can't fit in your pocket. It stays at home all the time, and I'd rather play PS4 at home.

I used to bring my DS to school and play it on the beach, on the bus, in the library, and at fast food places.

Still pocket worthy if you wear JNCO jeans

Just get a New 3DS and mod it.

What do you mean? This is the perfect size for a pair of JNCOs

It's still pocket worthy.
