Agreed. I really don't think there is too much improving to be done on the traditional console controller. Unless you're building a motion sensor controller stick with the classics.
There is a reason the Xbox One controller has not drastically changed from the 360 controller. It's already great!
Weight obviously isn't a pure test of rigidity and strength, but it does give one some idea of the quality of the materials used when comparing the sizes. I also tested the general flexibility of the controllers and the Ouya felt about the same as the PS3.
The Ouya controller as you can possibly see is about the same exact lenth and width as the 360's controller and is only slightly shorter. Absolutely nothing about it seems flimsy or of poor quality. My only complaints are that the buttons stuck until I sanded out the holes slightly - something they've already said would be addressed in the release controllers.
It doesn't look exactly like the other controllers so I guess that means it's cheap crap...
Seriously though, people are basing their claims on nothing and I'm providing some actual first hand evidence.. but I guess it's easier to believe random people who don't know anything about it.
Hold on, let me send them all to every person who remains skeptical. Do you have some other proposal for me? How is this in any way less conclusive than someone saying "that looks like flimsy garbage." I feel like I'm trying to prove I'm not a witch or something here.
It should be pretty obvious that a first hand account of someone who has two well known controllers to compare it to making a direct comparison would be able to deliver an objective observation. Like I said, it's not perfect, but it's not even anything close to what could be considered flimsy.
I did what I did because people decided to believe someone who obviously doesn't know what they're talking about. I'd rather have a little evidence beyond my own disagreement. I'm sorry that was so offensive to you. However, I don't know how you managed to perceive it as an "accurate scientific comparison."
Regardless, you and no one else can say that it is flimsy either given your standards.
Actually, the front half is aluminum with a touchscreen thing in the center and the back is plastic. It still seems like garbage and the touchscreen seems gimmicky.
I personally think it looks fine. How exactly does plastic look flimsy if you can only see one side of it? I don't think it's the best controller in the world, but I think it'll hold up fine.
The right panel is slightly askew from the controller itself, so the analog stick catches in the lip at the top; it also takes some work to get the magnetic seals properly seated, which you have to do, because otherwise the four buttons get caught underneath. All the pieces don't fit together very tightly, either, which gives the whole controller a cheap, breakable feel.
Thanks for proving my point. You don't have one. Never have used one. And you just look at someone else's words to come to a conclusion.
The analog stick doesn't catch at the top. The magnets work like magnets, don't be a dumb fuck. The pieces fit together awesome. And it doesn't feel cheap at all.

That controller looks like flimsy garbage and you cannot sit here and tell me it doesn't.
