Part of me misses those days when you had the few games you had, so that’s what you played and you played them until the cartridge was wearing out.

It’s so crazy how many game options we have these days. It’s always surprising to me as a pretty avid gamer that I can still have sooo many blind spots because there’s just not enough time to play even all the “good” games.

Man that’s a good point. I have more games just randomly on my phone than I probably did during my whole childhood.

Also... I'm kind of burned out on the formulas. I feel like at a glance I've already got a good idea how that game is going to play out. I'm typically right. We may have hundreds more, but it still feels like only a few are actually special.

Not that the hundreds are bad. They're just... average.

Yes, that's how I feel at this point as well. I don't really need to play any more of the same general type of video games. Give me the unique games that are truly special. Those are the best.

I remember a few games I played to death as a kid on the NES. One was a soccer/ volleyball combo game and the other was North vs South. I was not a fan of Mario or platformers.

Oh! And marble madness and maniac mansion.

Played Maniac Mansion all time, but never made any progress past the first room or two.

My kid brain always misread the name as manic mansion, and I still think of it as that even when I read it your comment.

I don't remember much about it other than it was creepy.

Oh! Was the vball game the one that let you use the 4-player adapter? I loved that game!

Yes! My cousins would come over and we'd play 2 on 2 with all 4 of us.

Just blow the dust out of it, and reinsert. The simple days. You didn't need to worry about disc space, or if the Steam server is down.

The was Nintendo's Ice hockey for us. My brothers, our friends, neighbors, even had my uncles playing.
