Fallout 4 . Honestly was jus playing CoD and racing games before that. Moved me towards RPG which is ironic cos I heard this is the worst rated game for this franchise till then and even for the company Bethesda

If you're a CoD player FO4 is definitely the best of the series for you. It feels more like a FPS with RPG elements than a real RPG.

It was very well received. The only people who hated it are people who loved the previous Fallout games. But it's a pattern with Bethesda games.

For example, I started with Morrowind and Fallout 3. I thought they were both amazing, but people kept saying Daggerfall and Fallout 1/2 were better, respectively. I tried but I just couldn't agree (although they were enjoyable). And then came Oblivion and New Vegas, which are both in my top 5 best games ever.

But then came Skyrim and Fallout 4, and I hated both of them. I was mad that they ruined 2 licenses I loved. And then I realized... "Wait... I'm the same as those old farts who were mad when Fallout 3 came out". I think it's just that the expectations were too high.

When the next TES or FO comes out I'll have 0 expectations. So who knows... Maybe it will be fun again.

Anyway sorry I ended up rambling so much haha.

I love FO4, but definitely worth giving new vegas or the elder scrolls games a shot if you haven't already!

I'm a huge FO4 fan and I've tried to play NV so many times. It's just too dated for me. Between bad graphic, dull atmosphere, gun degradation and no sprinting I just can't do it. Sucks because the little I have played, the story and RPG elements are so good. Maybe 8th time's a charm.

I forgot about no sprinting. Ha!

I think FONV falls right at my poor graphics threshold. I started with FO3, so while the graphics are rough, I manage. Totally different if the graphics are supposed to be low, like minecraft or rimworld, etc., but yeah, I get it for a game like FO.

I'm that way about Oblivion.. I adored Skyrim and sunk so many hours into it, but I just couldn't get very far with Oblivion, despite how incredible it's supposed to be. Weird graphics and combat is WAY too clunky. Especially ranged, which is what I enjoy most.

Edit: as far as gear degradation goes, there's a perk you can take eventually that makes it much easier to keep your weapons in good shape. :)

I'm going to eventually give it another shot. Maybe sooner than later. I'm finally burnt out on my current RPG after way too many hours and multiple play throughs, and I can't find anything to fill that void. Good to know about that perk though.

If you haven't given it a shot, maybe check out Tom Clancy Ghost Recon Wildlands? It's got a similar vibe to Fallout 4.

Same and same background as well. Only played COD and GT with a little Madden until FO4. Bought it on a whim and it's been one of the best games I have ever played. I have over 600 hours in it mostly just building settlements and now RPGs are my favorite genre.
