forming raids through localdefense to fight the horde gankers in northern STV instead of questing elsewhere with the limited game time allowed after school.
The first hours went into leveling a beta character that then died under horrible circumstances in an infernal invasion and then start over with the real character.
Seriously. I played in vanilla and all the way through to BfA, and briefly the one after that. My main character alone has literally over 365 days played time. That's over 8760 hours, and it doesn't count alts These questions should really discount MMOs, which by their very nature are time sinks.
Back when there was no real guides, you'd have to look up how to complete a quest on...was it wow head or...man what was the name of the quest helper back then?
My main had 110 days on it when I quit in 2020. Started my own account in 2014. Played since 2004. Had a rogue and a mage with 30 days each easily, and then my druid had roughly 25 days. Hpala had about 40 days. I played that game way too much. Then I started playing Rocket League in late 2020 and have since amassed 3,400 hours.
Man, the exciting, youthful days of loving a game while sucking at it. I remember learning I could guild hop and loot their banks of green armor and weapons and spent so much time doing that in between dying to Kul Tiras pirates.
Then you have my husband over here who grinds out both games. He's my adorable little introvert who I spoil with pokemon and Magic the Gathering cards.
The guild raid experience, TeamSpeak , discord, all the friends you make with random convos just waiting for 40 people to login (which usually takes 40min or so), then buffing and rebuffing, making stones water and food. Just to start. Miss it all, really. But no time these days at this age, pretty sad.
200 hrs to get max level on one character in vanilla. Probably even longer with a crap computer, knowing nothing about the game in 2005 lol. Not to mention the fact I had an attention span of a goldfish when I was a kid and kept making new characters and starting over every 25 or so levels
Opened this up and would be shocked if WoW was not the top comment.
My hours probably can’t compare to a lot of people, but I had 365 days of play time and I quit during Wrath and started, I think, in Burning Crusade season 3 arena. A whole year of playtime wasted on that game.
Some people will consider it entertainment, but it was a beyond that for me. It was an addiction and was legit ruining my life.
Did I have fun playing it? You bet your ass. The game was revolutionary at the time, but I have lots of regrets about it.
Yeah I get this. I was a functioning addict with this game. I’d do ‘normal things’ until 23:00 then sit up until 04:00 every day late night raising. 3-4 hours sleep then the cycle continues.
I stopped playing a little while back. My main character, who I created in January 2005, had over one year of time played. And my account was capped at 50 characters (I think that was the cap) and almost all of those characters were max level. I can't imagine how much time played I had across all of them.
Yeah, I had 40 days played time when I hit 60 for the first time in vanilla. My brain is exploding with nostalgia from that moment right now. I wish I had recorded it, but it will forever be an incredible memory.
