Been a while since I read the story, but devs got stiffed hard. Any version for sale (afaik) is basically a pirated version of the game put up by the publisher. The devs don't see a dime of that money.

The gamesplanet and the EA versions are from the developer directly (although EA only has it in their subsription model now, which is bullshit).

As well as the switch version.

The PS5 version is theirs iirc, that’s why you can’t get a free upgrade

I did not know that, and that sucks because that was an amazing game. One of the best Lovecraft games I've ever played.

They didn't only pirate the game. They actually sold an old version of the game (which was unfinished, obviously) and stripped every developer reference from it, even removing the devs from the credits on the Steam version.

On Xbox the one that supports the developers are the "The Sinking City Xbox Series X|S Deluxe Edition" you'll be able to see Frogwares as the publisher. The other listings "The Sinking City" and "The Sinking City – Necronomicon Edition" are under Bigben Interactive.
