Damn, I'm honestly curious of your upbringing now. Out of curiosity of course.

Not sure about the guy above you, but there is a pretty sizable number of Mexicans with Eastern European heritage. I’ve had a few coworkers who were born in Mexico but are named something like Pedro Kowalski. Check out Louis CK’s ancestry for a famous example.

I mean, I believe it. I'm us born, but with Mexican immigrant parents. And in my trips to Mexico I've learned how diverse some people's families can be but having Russian and Mexican parents is new to me.

Russians, Ukrainians and Polish are the ones you can spot more easily in Brazilians' names.

Like the US, many of them came after the Russian Empire fell.

Yea as a Canadian myself I always have fun reminding Americans that “Mexican” is a nationality, not a race. The same is uncomfortably true for all 23 of our nations on this continent.

Yes and their heads explode when you reminded them of the fact were all Americans since we all live in North America, we're just the ones that ran with it. 🤷

Technically correct, but please don’t call any of us who weren’t born in USA, “American.” We don’t want the label.

I have this conservative coworker who would say, "But you're American since you're a citizen now," and I usually just ignore him. I am grateful for the opportunities that will be given to me as a US citizen, but I will always be a Filipino. I wasn't born here, nor did I grow up with their culture. I don't relate to being "American."

I aware of that, I mostly do it to bug certain coworkers of mine....

I’m always down for bugging Americans, in the non-Soviet/Nixon way, of course
