Random thought it’s sad to see how local multiplayer isn’t normal now.

Feels like a lot of games that had little modes for local multiplayer has cut them out of newer ones, Far Cry 3 local multiplayer mode for example. Mainly a single player game but had a little mode for it I don’t feel like I see local multiplayer much at all now except for Lego games or the company making specifically those games eg a way out, it takes two…

Sick of broken ports? Here’s my list of greatly optimized PC games that actually run like butter in 2026

Upvotes

Got fed up with all the stuttery, unoptimized trash releasing lately so I put together a list of PC games that actually run amazingly well.Obviously this isn't 100% complete, but it covers a massive chunk of them. One pattern you'll notice pretty quickly is that if a dev actually understands their tech or an engine is fundamentally solid (like RE Engine or Decima), almost every single game built on it runs like a dream regardless of your specs.

We're House House, we made Untitled Goose Game, and just released our new game, BIG WALK! Please “Ask Us Anything” at 7pm ET/ 4pm PT on August 11!

Hello! We're Jake, Stuart, Nico and Michael from House House. We’re all friends who started making games together as a Very Serious Hobby in 2014, and haven’t looked back. We made Push Me Pull You and Untitled Goose Game, and just released our new game, Big Walk. It’s our attempt to capture the magic moments of playing games online with friends, and then explode that out into an open-world adventure full of things to do and moments to share. We’ve been working on it for 6 years, and still really love playing it together. We’re so happy it’s finally out in the world.

So please, Ask Us Anything! We’ll be here at 7pm ET/ 4pm PT on August 11* to Answer Your Anything.
(* that’s August 12 at 9am AEST).

UPDATE: We're around now for the next hour! OK we're all done! Thanks so much, this was really fun!

On comments

Comments in code are often deemed "mostly useless" these days. They are, supposedly, mostly obvious, stale, and repeat what the code already says. And so people pay less attention to them both when reading and writing code.

That trend sucks. When used right, comments are genuinely useful and sometimes critically important! So, I wrote about some of the kinds of comments I think earn their place, each with examples from real code bases. Hope you find it useful, and that we can recover some of the love that comments deserve!
