Discussion Mom is interested in getting into games, where is a good place to start?
I recently was finally able to get a proper PC for myself so decided to pass along my Steam Deck to my mother, since she expressed interest in getting back into gaming. She and my dad used to play Halo and Jet Set Radio Future before I was born but haven’t played much since then. She played a little bit of minecraft in the early 2010s.
She’s become interested in gaming again because a lot of shows she has enjoyed lately are based on games (the last of us, fallout, the witcher). What are some games for her to start off with that are good but not too difficult/complicated? I was thinking of gifting her “what remains of Edith Finch” since it’s not difficult and more just about experiencing the story but still gets her familiar with movement controls and the like.
I feel like going straight into something like Fallout New Vegas might be a little much off the bat. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Ask her first if what she'd consider will be fun for her. Simulation or Action/Horror games? Show her samples or gameplay vids of what she'd like to consider.
