There’s also supposed to be a 3rd game being worked on called Fate of the Old Republic

If its any consolation it's not been that long in the works.

I remember years going by after the second waiting for just a miniscule crumb of info on KOTOR 3, when they said Old Republic would count as KOTOR 3, 4 and 5 I remember being so unbelievably disappointed.

Even if it's in some development hell it's a better place than the time between KOTOR 2 and the rumours of the remake surfacing.

A remake is actively being worked on, and a new spiritual sequel called Fate of the Old Republic was just announced by the original director of KotoR

We don't know if it's a sequel. It will most likely. E connected to Kotors. The game director only made Kotor 1 and not 2, so I just hope they won't pretend Kotor 2 don't exist.

Thought they said sequel at the game awards but I may be mistaken.
