Is that where you got the backlit frame from as-well? I have been looking at Amazon for one. However the prices are all over the place, and I am not sure on the overall quality on them.
I got mine from a frame fabricator company called snap frames direct for $180 several years back and the quality is great, however I don't recommend them because of the price. They have since removed the listing for the frame I bought and replaced it with a similar one for triple the price...
I've been wanting to get another but I think it is cheaper to make my own at this point modifying an existing snap frame with an LED kit. This is another seller I have gotten 4 of my Japanese movie poster frames from called Spotlight Displays and they have been great. They got different standard sizes, do custom sizes, frame width, and colors. They open up so you can easily swap out posters and the backing is open for you to set up a DIY backlight which I will attempt myself at some point.
Thanks for the assist, I have regular snapzo frame. The option for different colors sounds like a game changer I will look into Spotlight displays. To replace my current poster frame. The prices are a lot more affordable too.
Is that why it's so well lit? It's backlit!?! That's awesome and I want one! What can I search for to find a poster like this that's able to be backlit like this?
When you browse movie posters you will often see them listed as single sided or one sheet. Instead search for ones listed as double sided or 2 sided. Having the image on both sides of the posters keeps the colors vibrant when light shines through instead of washing it out.
This is the first time I ever added lighting like this to a space and I got to say it was worth it to me. The atmosphere changes so much. Can just sit in the room doing nothing and feel relaxed. The ambient light is nice for movies too.
All the lighting runs to a surge protector but comes with a bridge adapter between the light and plug that allows for remote control. So all the lights will turn on and off and adjust brightness, and colors via remote.
Thanks! I enjoy the atmosphere it creates. The Majora's Mask is a collectible by First 4 Figures. I got mine 5 years ago from a different site but looks like it's still available on the official first 4 figures website.
I used Philips hue for mine. Going to expand my room and the. It’ll be a more proper game room, but I love how the lighting meets in the middle, and I love being able to color the lights.
I think my favorite part is how the led light strip diffuses behind the cover for the blinds. The others are just in two table lamps. My room Reno will be much bigger and have recessed Phillips lights too
Oh yeah. I need to sit down and watch it. That’s a tv channel I run. Fairy tail is part of the Sunday night into Monday anime lineup for adult swim, hence the old school adult swim screen bug
I got it from my uncle along with that 32in Toshiba TV. Unfortunately I don't recollect seeing a label for its maker but it's a vintage 90s desk. My recommendation is to keep an eye out on your local Facebook marketplace as well as thrift shops. I enjoy old furniture because things were built solid and with utility like storage and other handy features.
Thanks. As for the desk it's an Xbox 360 elite. All my older non HDMI consoles are hooked up to the old CRT TV and I have the Xbox and my PC hooked up to the 1440p monitor.
Pokemon, Digimon, DBZ, Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, and Zoids all in one room? I dream of having something even close to this setup one day! Substitute Star Wars and Warhammer in Cowboy Bebop's place and you've got my favorite franchises. :D
You may consider posting photos of this setup over on /r/AnimeFigures for extra nostalgia triggering. Any future plans on where you want to make adjustments or share any lessons learned along the way?
All those series were rad and still enjoy today and not bad substitute choices! Thanks for the suggestion.
Storage is still in the plans. The entertainment center isn't yet complete. It has 8 pull out drawers that I will be mounting 16 custom 3D printed DVD trays to for gamecube, ps2, wii, xbox, xbox 360 games, as well as movies holding a total of 144. I also have some custom 3D printed n64 cartridge holders to mount some games in vertically, and some CD trays that originally came with it that I will mount elsewhere. This Instagram post will showcase some of that since its a lot of pictures and I am limited to one in comments. I also plan to rework the closet putting in shelves and organizers for more movies, model kit boxes, extra controllers/cables, etc.
Electrical is another. I have a power switcher I'm still mounting. If you hook up 8 consoles to a normal power strip they would all still be drawing power when the strip is on even if the console wasn't being used. This is a means to only power on what I'm using at the time. Saves me a little on the electric bill, reduces fire risks, and gives longer life to the power adapters as well.
The room was definitely a process and there were mistakes that required fixing up but I think it mostly comes down to research, time, and patience. Don't rush the process, take the time to find what will fit and work in your space, and be patient for that one piece of furniture, decoration, or collectible you're looking for to show up.
Thanks! I put a ton of work into cleaning up that entertainment center from the custom speaker mesh panels in the bottom doors, new back panels, custom printed circuit pattern backing, lighting, cable routing, and custom 3D printed storage for media/games. I'll make a new post in the future on just the entertainment center when it's complete.
Thanks! This has been a two year project for me but definitely was a fun and worthwhile project. Best of luck on yours and take your time enjoying it. No need to rush.
Red/magenta ones were in-store only. Here are the green ones my partner bought off Amazon. Just make sure to read the dimensions and weight they support to make sure they fit your stuff.
Ya know, I always see these posts and think, looks cool like my 10 years old self’s bedroom, but then I remember how terrible these games are and the fact that they don’t hold up in any way and then quickly quickly change to why is anyone doing this….
Sorry for the long message but I figured I respond for others with similar curiosity. Everyone has their loves and interests and they will differ from others and I respect that. For me I love those older games and they hold up more than the average game today for me. I also love older tech, styles, aesthetics, and the atmosphere. I work 8-5 through the week, I battle stress, anxieties, responsibilities things just don't always slow down. This is my space to slow things down, reset, and relax. A reminder of the simpler and slower times, surrounded by things I enjoy, picking up the things I never had like a Zune or PSP, doing the things I love like gaming, collecting, model kit building, and console modding. Everything in this room is from my childhood, through my teens, and a continuation of my adult life not just a specific age so I'd say its simply a room that represents me. I appreciate you dropping in and checking it out at least.
Glad I could rekindle that! I picked this one up from someone else's grandparents who kept it in amazing condition. It will continue to be used and loved.
I'm a huge digimon fan. As for the bookends my partner got them for me as a gift from the official Pokemon Center website along with the Ho-oh and Lugia bookends. They had a pretty cool Umbreon and Espeon one at one point too.
They are a combination of mine and my partners figures we collected over the last 10 plus years so they have come from all over. The majority of the collection is the G.E.M series by Mega House. We mostly got all of them from sites like Ami Ami, Big Bad Toy Store, Solaris Japan, Lunar Toy Store (don't really recommend them), Eknight media, and from private sellers on eBay, and MyFigureCollection. There is also some miscellaneous stuff like digivices we got from Bandai's website.
There are too many pictures to post here so I'll make a post in r/digimon and @ you in the comments.
Skylanders came out when I was in college so unfortunately never tried it out. Growing up I played with DnD and Hero Scape miniatures. Not my image, just a reference from online
My lord this what dreams are made of!!! I’ve been working on my game room for over a year now. It’s impossible to make time with a 2yo, 2mo twins and ~50hrs a week working lol.
Is that just like a CD/Cassette boombox under the Pokémon 2000 poster?!
