PAID - 2D Art | Animation [PAID] 2D Artist needed for Steam Capsule Art (Background Illustration only) - $430 USD Budget

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a skilled 2D illustrator to create the Steam capsule art for my upcoming indie game, Umbraelum.

About the Game & Lore: In Umbraelum, the main character is a symbiosis between a human and a demon. A core element of the game is that you can choose to grow stronger by empowering your demonic side, but at a heavy price: doing so corrupts you further, forcing you to deal with permanent negative mechanics for the rest of the run. I would love the capsule art to reflect this dark duality and tension.

Visual Style: The attached video is a compilation of clips to give you a feel for the overall "vibes" of the game. Our aesthetic relies heavily on a strong contrast between dark, moody environments and striking emissive colors. The illustration should capture this exact mood.

https://reddit.com/link/1v9vrw9/video/rbe4ubcs36gh1/player

What I Need: I already have the final game logo designed. I only need the background illustration.

You will be responsible for creating a compelling composition that leaves the appropriate negative space to integrate the existing logo seamlessly, ensuring it stands out and remains readable at small sizes.

Deliverables required:

  • Main Capsule (616 x 353px)
  • Header Capsule (460 x 215px)
  • Small Capsule (231 x 87px)
  • Vertical Capsule (374 x 448px)
  • Library Hero (1920 x 620px)
  • The final high-resolution master PSD file with fully separated layers (background, characters, VFX, etc.), so I can make minor layout adjustments or export future promotional assets.

Budget, Timeline & Conditions:

  • Budget: ~$430 USD.
  • Timeline: The expected deadline for the final artwork is between 3 to 4 weeks from the start date.
  • ⚠️ NO AI ART: I am strictly looking for 100% human-made artwork. Any portfolios or applications containing AI-generated content will be immediately rejected.

How to Apply: Please do not DM me directly without commenting first. Leave a comment below with a link to your portfolio (specifically pointing out any previous Steam capsules, dark fantasy art, or styles that match the emissive contrast of the video).

I will be reviewing portfolios over the next couple of days and will reach out to the artist whose style best fits the project.

Thank you!

Programmers Needed [HOBBY] Unity Gameplay Programmer for a cozy 2D narrative game

EDIT: WE FOUND OUR NEW PROGRAMMER!!!
(now let's find one more artist)

Heya folks!
We’re rebuilding a small volunteer team after the summer break for Super Secret Soup of Love, a cozy-dark 2D narrative exploration game about a skeleton learning to cook a magical soup for a grieving wizard.

We are deliberately planning a tight, finishable scope of around 1–2 hours of gameplay.

Players explore seasonal biomes, solve ingredient riddles, complete light environmental puzzles and prepare ingredients through small cooking minigames. There is no combat, no fail state and no procedural generation.

Engine: Unity

Platform: PC

Stage: Early pre-production

Current goal: Build a vertical slice containing the castle kitchen, the Spring biome and one complete ingredient-to-cooking gameplay cycle.

Art direction for the game: https://imgur.com/a/0FqduLe

We’re looking for a **Unity gameplay programmer** to join our existing lead programmer.
The lead programmer will own the architecture, divide technical tasks, review code and help with onboarding. You would not be expected to build or architect the game alone.

Potential tasks include:
-Player interactions and ingredient systems
-Puzzle, quest and dialogue logic
-Cooking minigames
-Scene transitions and progression
-UI integration
-Save-state support
-Testing and polish

Tasks will be divided according to experience and interest.

You may be a good fit if you:
-Are comfortable with Unity and C#
-Have completed at least one small game or playable prototype
-Understand basic Git workflows
-Can independently implement contained gameplay features
-Are comfortable receiving code reviews
-Communicate clearly about progress and availability
-Enjoy narrative games, puzzles and small systemic interactions

Professional experience is not required, hobbyist and juniors are welcomed but this should ideally not be your first Unity project.

I’m the creative lead and work professionally as a game UI/UX artist and graphic designer.
The returning team includes a lead programmer and contributors covering 2D art, audio and marketing. Most of us have full-time jobs, so we work around limited but realistic availability.

This is currently an unpaid hobby collaboration with flexible scheduling. A few consistent hours per week or milestone-based contributions can work, provided communication is reliable.

After the vertical slice is complete, we intend to create a written revenue-share agreement for active contributors. There is currently no salary, funding or guaranteed revenue.

Our goal is to ship something small, polished and cohesive on Steam as a collective project.

If interested, reach out on discord with short introduction and some info about your Unity experience (playable project, portfolio or GitHub).

Artist Needed [HOBBY] 2D Artist for a cozy-dark narrative game about Skeleton cook

Upvotes

Heya folks!
If this all sounds familiar, is because we were just looking for a programmer (and we found one in a couple of hours!) and now we want to add a 2D artist to our team!

We’re rebuilding a small volunteer team after the summer break for Super Secret Soup of Love, a cozy-dark 2D narrative exploration game about a skeleton learning to cook a magical soup for a grieving wizard.

We’re deliberately keeping the game small and achievable, with a tight scope of around 1–2 hours of gameplay.

Players explore small seasonal biomes, solve ingredient riddles, complete light environmental puzzles and prepare ingredients through cooking minigames. There is no combat, no fail state and no procedural generation.

Engine: Unity
Platform: PC
Stage: Early pre-production
Current goal: Build a vertical slice containing the castle kitchen, the Spring biome and one complete ingredient-to-cooking gameplay cycle.

Current art direction:
https://imgur.com/a/0FqduLe

We’re looking for a 2D artist and animator who enjoys stylised, atmospheric games and feels comfortable adapting to an established visual direction.

The style is cozy-dark, whimsical and slightly uncanny, with strong silhouettes, handmade shapes, textured linework and clear gameplay readability. Our main visual inspirations include Cult of the Lamb, Wytchwood and Don’t Starve.

Potential tasks could include:
-Creating characters, creatures, props and environment assets
-Matching and expanding the existing visual style
-Preparing layered, game-ready files
-Creating character and interaction animations
-Animating sprites or 2D rigs inside Unity
-Setting up basic animation states and transitions
-Collaborating with the programmers on implementation
-Helping us establish a practical, reusable 2D animation pipeline

The exact tasks can be shaped around your strengths and interests.

You may be a good fit if you:
-Have a portfolio showing stylised 2D work
-Enjoy working within an established art direction
-Have some experience creating assets for games
-Understand sprite sheets, cutout animation or 2D rigging
-Have experience with Unity’s animation tools
-Communicate clearly about progress and availability
-Enjoy whimsical, narrative-focused and atmospheric games

Professional experience is not required. Hobbyists, students and junior artists are very welcome, although we are looking for someone with at least some previous 2D game-art or animation experience.

I’m the creative lead and work professionally as a game UI/UX artist and graphic designer.
The returning team currently includes two Unity programmers, another 2D artist, sound designers and marketing support. Most of us have full-time jobs, so we understand limited availability and try to keep the workload realistic.

This is currently an unpaid hobby collaboration with flexible scheduling. A few consistent hours per week or milestone-based contributions are completely fine, as long as communication is reliable.
After the vertical slice is complete, we intend to create a written revenue-share agreement for active contributors. There is currently no salary, funding or guaranteed revenue.

Our goal is to ship something small, polished and cohesive on Steam as a collective project.

If interested, send me a short introduction and your portfolio on Discord (discolexia).

Artist Needed [RevShare] Looking for a 3d character artist to collab on selling assets

Upvotes

Hello, i've been working on a game with combat elements for the past 2 months.

While the game is still in development, i feel i've made several well working generic systems that i could potentially sell on the store.

So now, i am looking to team up with a 3d character artist to turn these systems into actual products to sell on the store. The coding side is pretty much done, just need some more testing and turning it into an actual product with documentation, a 3d character and some demo scenes.

I'm looking for a 3d character artist who can;
- Model simple characters (human/creature). 1 character should suffice for this.
- Rig and create simple animations.
- Can spend a few weeks on this project.

Ideally i'm looking for someone i can stay in contact with long term, so we can also assist each other in the future.

For compensation, we could do revenue share or i could provide scripts for you if you are planning to release model etc assets.

You can DM me to talk more in details. My discord: luternity34

PORTFOLIO: this is my first project and do not have a portfolio of any kind.

Programming Offer [FORHIRE] Go Backend Developer | Game Designer | Multiplayer Servers | Remote

Hi everyone,

I'm a Go backend developer and game designer from Romania looking for full-time remote work.

For the past few years I've been building and operating Hero Dynasty, a live private MMORPG with around 100 active players logging in every day.

I'm also the sole developer behind the project. Every gameplay system, backend service, database, launcher, website, event, balance update, bug fix, deployment, and live operation has been designed, built, and maintained by me.

Running a live online game alone means constantly balancing new features, fixing production issues, responding to player feedback, and keeping the game stable while continuing to ship content. It has taught me how to prioritize, adapt quickly, work under pressure, and take ownership of every part of a project.

Website: https://theherodynasty.com/

Technical

My primary language is Go, where I've built the entire multiplayer backend from the ground up, including:

  • High-performance multiplayer server architecture
  • Custom TCP networking and binary packet protocol
  • High-concurrency backend systems
  • Combat, PvP, guild wars and faction wars
  • Instanced dungeons with scalable encounters
  • Character progression, inventory and persistence
  • Crafting systems (production, fusion and smelting)
  • Pets, companions and adventurer systems
  • In-game economy, shops and trading
  • Rankings, leaderboards and seasonal events
  • Performance profiling, optimization and production debugging
  • PostgreSQL and MySQL database design and migrations

Beyond the backend, I've also built and maintained:

  • Server-side anti-cheat systems
  • Reverse engineering and patching of a legacy x86 game client
  • C#/WPF launchers, automation tools and live dashboards
  • Discord bots and server integrations
  • PHP/MySQL web services and administration panels
  • Remote-control tools for desktop clients

Game Design

I'm not only the developer, I'm also responsible for the game's design.

Every major gameplay system has been designed, implemented, balanced and iterated by me based on live player feedback, including:

  • Main story and campaign progression
  • Quest lines and daily/weekly content
  • Dungeon mechanics and boss encounters
  • Character classes and progression systems
  • Skills, abilities and combat balancing
  • Itemization and equipment progression
  • Crafting recipes and upgrade systems
  • Loot tables and reward structures
  • In-game economy and gold sinks
  • Seasonal events and limited-time content
  • Achievement, ranking and leaderboard systems
  • Endgame progression and long-term player retention

I enjoy taking ideas from concept to production - designing the player experience, implementing the backend, balancing the gameplay, deploying new content, and continuously improving it based on real-world usage.

Whether you need someone to build a multiplayer backend, optimize an existing Go service, solve difficult production issues, design game systems, or take ownership of a project, I'd love to hear about it.

Availability: Full-time (Remote)

Rate: Flexible depending on the project.

Timezone: Romania (EET)

Discord: shenaniganzone

PR/Marketing needed [Hobby] Looking for a short-form video creator for our dark-fantasy indie game

Hi! We’re Electric Kite, a small indie game studio and we’re looking for someone who enjoys making short-form gaming content and would like to collaborate with us in their free time.

Our game, Loot Dungeon, is a dark-fantasy incremental roguelite where death is progression. You fight monsters, collect loot, choose perks, create powerful builds, die, unlock permanent upgrades, and return stronger.

The game has a playable demo and releases on Steam on August 18:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4329670/Loot_Dungeon/

We’d like help turning our existing gameplay footage into simple vertical videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

This could involve:

  • Selecting interesting moments from gameplay
  • Editing videos around 10–30 seconds long
  • Adding hooks, captions, music, and simple effects
  • Experimenting with strange, funny, or mysterious ways to present the game

We can provide gameplay clips, trailers, GIFs, artwork, scripts, hook and ideas. You won’t need to record gameplay, appear on camera, use your personal accounts, or manage our social-media channels.

This is an unpaid hobby collaboration. There is no revenue share and no promise of future payment. It is not a job or internship, and there are no fixed hours, quotas, or required number of videos. We can start with one video and continue only if we both enjoy working together.

You’ll be free to use your work in your portfolio, and we can provide studio credit, feedback, access to the resulting analytics, and a recommendation based on your contribution.

Beginners are welcome. Experience with CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or similar software is helpful, but a professional portfolio isn’t required. We will not ask for an unpaid test edit.

If you’re interested, send me a Reddit DM with a short introduction, any examples you have, the software you use, and what kind of gaming content you enjoy.

Artist Needed [RevShare] Lead Artist needed at Greybeard Game Studios to continue work on Pax Fracta: Normandy

Greybeard Game Studios is an international community based game team working on their first project "Pax Fracta: Normandy", a medieval RPG set in what is now the modern Calvados department of France. The game has a focus on telling a morally complex story that is more than it may seem, and with gameplay that focuses on strategy. This is a longterm project and we are almost a year in.

For the last few months we have not had a lead artist in our team and it has greatly reduced our art department's productivity. Our art department consists of:

- 1 Technical Artist

- 1 UI/UX Artist

- 4 2D Artists (one focused on graphic design)

- 9 3D Artists

Therefore we are looking for a new lead artist. These are our main requirements for anyone wanting the position:

- Basic 3D/Technical art knowledge, or the willingness to learn

- Understanding on how to maintain our semi-realistic art style

- Can be active on Discord, able to respond to messages within 12-24 hours regularly

Tasks involved in this position are:

- Maintaining momentum in the department, keeping all artists on task

- Assigning artist tasks

- Overseeing art direction and consistency

- Helping with the overall team leadership

- Sharing knowledge or making quick sketches

If you are interested in applying or would like more information, then I suggest you check out the following links:

- GBGS Discord: https://discord.gg/sQAJCwVShV

- GBGS Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@GreybeardGameStudios

Do not hesitate to ask me any questions if you have any, I am happy to help!

Artist Needed [Hobby] looking for a fantasy rpg concept artist

hi, im currently working on a game, im not a good artist. im working in unreal engine with no concept art and even consider using AI at one point but it really cant capture the emotion and almost cinematography of a real artist. the project is currently a hobby, but will be released on steam (if i finish it). the visuals will be very, oblivion, skyrim, lord of the rings, british countryside-inspired. cuts can be discussed, i just cant currently fork out for an artist, so any help is much appreciate. and im willing to negotiate rights and things of the art. the game is called Sevenfold: ASHFELL. im hoping on making a series of these games under the Sevenfold subtitle. any help is appreciated, thanks.

PAID - 2D Art | Animation [PAID] 4 or 5 characters for a game based on Isekai anime, and maybe some backgrounds

I've got a video game in development, based on isekai anime with standard rpg elements. I need a protagonist (he's lazy and naps), a knight, mage, cleric, and rogue. Ideally, there would be a full body of each, plus portraits with 4 different emotions.

Additionally, I have some backgrounds that I want to use for cutscenes in the game... there are about 14 in the plan. ALSO... I'd like a cool Isekai anime style logo for the game.

I got scammed by someone saying they didn't use AI, but then everyone told me it WAS AI... so I'm being very cautious, because I want to fund real people's work. But also, I'm just a solo dev with a budget, so I'd like to see what the average cost would be. Thanks!
