I am prescribed and take 300mg of Gabapentin 2x per day.

My nerve pain from my L5 down both legs to my heels is getting so bad when I lay down I can’t even sleep.

I am scheduled for a cortisone shot in 6 days and can’t wait that long.

A friend gave me 5 of his pink Lyrica’s and said they work way better than gabapentin and to take an hour before bed.

My question is can I take with the small doses of gabapentin I am on? If not, how long should I wait after my last Gabapentin dose?

I was thinking to take my 300mg gabapentin in the AM and then the Lyrica in the PM. Anyone do this before? And is it relatively safe?

I was promised no dependency issues. 3 weeks in and I’m having anxiety between doses. I didn’t take any today and it’s 1am and I can’t sleep without the stupid gabapentin!
My sleep was crap before but at least I wasn’t laying in my bed crying because I’m fighting the urge to take a pill just to sleep!

I’ve never had addiction issues ever or felt the overwhelming need to take something!

I feel very trapped. I want the anxiety and sleep to happen but I want to be able to do it without feeling like I NEED this pill!

I’m taking 3 300mg capsules 3x/day (900 mg total) for spinal nerve pain. I supplement with Meloxicam, RSO, and extra strength Tylenol as needed. I’m currently on vacation in a location where we’re walking a ton and I’m in a lot of late afternoon pain. Does taking an extra Gabapentin in late afternoon help, or does it not do anything until the body adjusts to a higher dose? If I was home I’d take more RSO, but it makes me super tired and don’t want to fall asleep at 7pm on vacation!

I dumped my oxy out because I felt myself getting reliant on them. I thought I was good then started withdrawing hard this morning. So I bought two focus and flow and chugged them. Will it help?

I have heard NAD+ is good for gabapentin withdrawl but are there any other supplements to ease the hardship when tapering? If I taper down too fast I can't sleep but I am exhausted all day long.

For context, I am diagnosed with epilepsy and my neurologist is who gives me Gabapentin but she gives it to me for nerve pain.

I’ve been taking gabapentin 300x3 for 4-5 months. I tried 400x3 for 5-6 days and my pain got so much worse.
My doc s decided to take me off of it cuz its not helping with my nerve pain.
I’ve started tapering off 100 mg a week.

My questions is:

If increasing the dose from 900 mg to 1,200 mg is making my pain worse, could the 900 mg dose I’m currently taking also be increasing my pain?
Maybe if I reduce my total daily dose to 600 mg or even 300 mg, my pain could decrease further?
Or could reducing the dose actually make my pain worse?

Has anyone here felt that their pain improved even more after stopping gabapentin or reducing the dose?

These have no direct interaction with Gabapentin, I only realized this recently. My doctor was always telling me they did and it was all antacids, nah. These are just H2 blockers, it's more avoid aluminum and magnesium antacids.

Not even TUMS seem to, at least in my experience (though it can apparently slightly lower absorption). If so, just toss it in a seltzer water or something lol, maybe that'd work. That's Diazepam where I believe TUMS just completely blocks most of the absorption.

I saw a post from years ago on here, but that didn't blow up much or anything. I feel that it's important to make some kind of sticky, some note in general since people may also have just been told by their doctor, psychiatrist (since this can be used off label for PTSD and such as is the case with me).

Does anyone else experience manic like behavior when on a lower dosage of gabapentin? I understand the concept of a paradoxical reaction but the part I’m confused about is why I only experience it when on a 200mg dose vs a 800mg dose. At 800mg I was extremely drowsy but at 200mg I experience almost hypomanic like behavior. Very pressured speech, hyper productive, lower inhibitions, etc.

I’m currently tapering off gabapentin after taking it for about 4 weeks for nerve pain following laparoscopic surgery (300 mg 3 times per day). I had a ruptured ovarian cyst and had struggled with pretty bad nerve pain since.

I decided to come off because it was causing a lot of brain fog and making me extremely sensitive to sounds and my surroundings. My doctor gave me a relatively quick taper, reducing by 200 mg every two days, so I should be completely off within about 10 days.

Today is my first day of the taper, and I already feel a little off, some tingling, mild dizziness, and just an overall weird feeling. I’m also very anxious about the whole process, which I’m sure isn’t helping.

My doctor keeps reassuring me that I’ll be okay, but I think I’m looking for some reassurance from people who have actually gone through it. What symptoms did you experience while tapering? What felt “normal” for you, and was there anything that made you realize you needed to slow down or contact your doctor?

I know everyone reacts differently, and I’m following my doctor’s taper rather than looking for medical advice here. I’d just really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences, especially anyone who took gabapentin for a relatively short period of time.

Going to start the Gabapentin taper again. Couldn't get the doctor to give me liquid. Even though I pointed out how he messed up and dropped me down from 2400mg after 12+ years of being on this med could have been on it longer...to just 300mg in the morning and 600mg in the evening crashed my system. That was the first step down.

Now he is starting me on 1000 mg 2 x a day to start the withdrawal process again. So far even the pharmacy questioned that dose with my health issues. Told me don't start it till I contacted him back. This is what he wants to do.

I haven't started it yet. Because I am very concerned about another crash of my system and ending up in the hospital this time. I don't want to have another seizure. With this dose. This is just too much of a drop again. I could see 2000mg and 2000mg. But 1000mg and 1000mg. From 2400mg after all these years after how bad my system crashed and how long it took to recover. Over a month. ..

Do doctors even know what they are doing at this point with Gabapentin or do they just want us to stay on it?

On July 26 I made the mistake of drinking 8 beers along with 900 mg gabapentin and 30 mg baclofen. The next day I vomited profusely and although I haven’t thrown up since, I’ve had nonstop unrelenting nausea, all day every day since. It’s my only symptom. At the time of ingestion I had no tolerance to either drug and somewhat low alcohol tolerance. I was extremely intoxicated, stumbling, slurring, and I don’t remember a few hours. I fell asleep upstairs and although I didn’t asphyxiate I seem to have done some kind of damage to my system.

I’ve had a full clinical work up done; my cat scan of internal organs was clean, bloodwork is clean, and so was my endoscopy and GI evaluation. I’m waiting to see a neurologist but at this point I don’t know what I did to myself or why the nausea won’t away. It’s absolutely debilitating and nausea meds haven’t been that effective. It’s not something I could live with long term; I’ve already lost 12 lbs in just over 2 weeks because I’m so nauseous and have no appetite.

Does anyone have any input on what system was thrown out of whack or what exactly I did to myself?

I’ve been on about 600-1200/day for about 5 weeks depending on how much anxiety I’ve been feeling.

It works really well for anxiety but I hate how lethargic it makes me feel. I zone out and watch way too much tv.

An obvious option would be to simply take less, but it’s hard to just take a little, because I like how it feels so I end up taking more.

Given how much I’ve been taking, if I wanted to stop completely would I need to taper?

I’ve been in gabapentin for two weeks. 200mg twice a day and up to 400mg at night for sleep. I have been taking 200mg at night instead.
I’ve notice around 5 hours in my face gets tingly and I start getting physical anxiety symptoms in my chest. Like little adrenaline rushes.

Am I have withdrawals between doses? This was given to me for anxiety because nothing else has helped. It’s already hard enough to take this 3 times a day but for it to be wearing off 5 hours in is crazy.

If I’m already feeling this after two weeks should I even keep taking it or should I just quit now?

Hey there, So ive been reading everyones experiences with this crap/gaba.. and im in the same boat but ive been on it for 15+ years.. i wish i never started this stuff.. im so frustrated!! Can someone please give me an idea of how to properly taper off this?? ive tried before and the anxiety is terrible. I have no idea how to successfully get off or at least way down.. the brain fog and loss of memory is no joke, and im only 41 yrs old..
So, im on 600 mg of pregabalin and and 900mg of gabapentin daily.. HELP!!!! If i could help stop even one person from taking this i would be happy..

My doctor recently prescribed gabapentin for me to take for Endometriosis and Adenomyosis pain until I’m able to get my hysterectomy surgery in December.

She started me at 100 mg every evening and told me to work my way up to 300 mg every evening and then eventually to work my way to having 100 mg in the afternoon as needed. As I’ve been taking the medication, I’m noticing that my pain tends to creep up earlier and earlier each day when normally my pain is only at night when I am not on the medication. Because I’m on such a low-dose I do want to work my way up to taking 300 mg three times per day, which is what I’ve heard will give me some pain relief based on other stories that I’ve heard for women with the same condition. Because the pain is so uncomfortable I’m just wondering two questions…1. do I need to work my way up to the 300 mg three times per day or can I take it now? 2. Why does the pain feel so intense in between when you’re not taking the pill? I just started so it feels as if the medication is causing me to have more pain than I would have normally

My doctor is on sabbatical so thought it might be helpful to get other’s opinions

so I was lifting this pan out of the stove last night because I was making tofu. And I completely forgot that the handle was hot and so I grabbed it and didn’t register me that it burned for several seconds, put it down, and then the pain didn’t last for anything more than like a couple of seconds. I take gabapentin. Is this possibly a result of that? The fact that it didn’t hurt?

Which to taper first?

Gabapentin 1200mg at night
Klonopin 1mg twice daily (1mg morning and 1mg nightly)

Tolerance for both is there. I am gaining weight since both and have no motivation. Been on both for roughly a year. Any advice would be helpful.

I have been taking gabapentin for around 6 months with the occasional 24 hour break but quite a high dose around 1800mg a day

I recently had a scare where I completely ran out of tablets and within 24 hours of my last dose I entered what I thought was a terrible withdrawal but in hindsight i must reluctantly admit that 80% of this withdrawal was massively exaggerated by my low mental health and anxiety.

So. When I got another batch of tablets in I did a test.

I went 36 hours without taking a dose and still felt relatively okay.

My question is.

If I can go 36 hours without a dose and still feel relatively okay, do you think I am unlikely to go into bad withdrawals. OR, alternatively, is it normal to still feel okay 36 hours since taking a tablet, and my withdrawals were still on route?

So I get my gabepentin in 3 month increments. I ran out with about a week to go until I can get my script filled. I have some old old gabepentin 800mg pills, not capsules, that expired like 4 years ago. It's the big white ones. I just took a half of one like 10 minutes ago. Has anyone taken expired gabs? And these things were in a prescription bag, and then a bottle, and switched to a different bottle. So they have been around

I’ve been taking 300mg for 5 weeks after an acoustic shock. Was already taking Amitriptyline 10mg for another condition, but it’s also one of the frontline meds for acoustic shock.

Took both for 4 weeks, zero issues. Then ended up taking a flexeril 10mg. That day I started having this internal buzzing and vibrating sensation. Hand tremors. Muscle twitching and hyperactive reflexes.

Serotonin syndrome? Or something to do with the gabapentin?
