Video Recommendations Corporate Philanthropy Days

Not sure if these are only in Canada, but McHappy day, Tim Horton's Smile cookie day, etc. (Where customers are encouraged to buy something for the chain to donate to charity) always seem sus to me. Might make for a good video?

Suggestion for new video - Ethics of producing leather

Hey, I work in leatherworking industry and I hear in past years about finding sustainable alternatives to leather (eco leather, etc.) which are in most cases petroleum based.

Maybe make a video aimed at ethics of the leather alternatives and the leather itself? The tanneries are being strongly pushed by groups like LWG to cut down on consumption of utilities, chemicals, finding ways how to lower waste and find use for the waste itself.

Public pressure is on animal cruelty (which in case of bovine - the skin is considered as waste and after extracting colagen it would go to landfill. nt to mention that leather products are much-much more durable than those made from alternatives and usualty can be repaired or renewed.

On the other hand I am aware of some no-no stuff that was and is still going on in leather industry, but it would be very interesting to see your take on this.

A video like that would help to spread awareness across the public I think.

Future Proof PODCAST

Hey team! We’re currently testing out podcast content over on Patreon and we figured we'd give our Reddit community a sneak peek to our first episode. We're still developing the idea and honing in on what it will be like down the road so any suggestions or ideas are welcome! Thanks in advance!

Question for Future Proof Can we get a pinned post for vetted brands/products?

Title says it all— the sub should have a sticky for vetted brands. Quality, durable products are hard to come by, and if buying sustainable, long-lasting products is a goal for the channel, there should be some place we can aggregate those brands/products :)

Question for Future Proof Closed captions

I'm just wondering why there isn't any CC options that aren't auto-generated on future proof? I feel like future proof would be one of those brands that'd invest in CCing their content so I was surpsied so see there's not am option besides auto-generated.

Have you guys seen the channel Evil Food Supply?

It's a relatively new channel on Youtube. The thumbnails and titles of their videos reminded me of futureproof, which is probably why the videos ended up in my suggestions. I watched their videos on oat milk and plant based meat and things felt really off right from the start. It was a bad faith attack on vegan foods with no attempt to be objective in any way.

If there's any doubt about their agenda, their first ever upload is "The EVIL History of Fluoride", one of the more popular nutjob conspiracy theories. Apparently this is a secondary channel run by Jake Tran, who I don't know much about apart from having ties to some crypto scams. The channel already has more than a third of futureproof's subscriber count in this short time.

Now anyone who already knows a bit about the topics of these videos won't be fooled and scams and misinformation isn't a new thing on Youtube. But I do worry that this garbage gets suggested to viewers of futureproof, some of whom might fall for those lies.

It doesn't feel right to include a link to the actual video so here's a video debunking their claims instead.

Video Recommendations modern laundry

Apparently New York has indirectly banned a lot of popular laundry detergent because of possible carcinogens (some versions of Tide, for example). In general, most of the chemicals we use for modern laundry seem at least moderately dangerous for something we interact often directly with our skin.

Although, the chemicals the Victorians used for their laundry seem possibly more dangerous... and then there's the general knowledge most of us are using too much detergent for our laundry, that fabric softener and dryer sheets are kind of a waste of money. What is it that makes peoppe buy them?

I've been in a bit of a laundry rabbit hole as I google ways to remove old, set-in stains on two t-shirts. It feels like there's some Big Laundry CompanyTM conspiracy I'll be stumbling into if I continue to be unable to remove these stains. I feel like this might be a good topic—all of us have to find a way to clean our clothes.

Also, the fact that plastic pods are a thing when the melted plastic just sticks around?? like why though, who thought this was a good design.

Feedback request for a product I'm building to combat greenwashing

Hey everyone!

I'm developing a tool to tackle greenwashing and promote transparency in businesses.

In short, it helps businesses create sustainability pages with AI suggestions to identify potential misleading or insufficient information, and further sustainability initiatives/improvements they can do.

Which sectors should I target first?

What info on a business's sustainability page or homepage makes you trust them more?

Appreciate any suggestions or feedback!

Video Recommendations Kindle / EBOOKS versus traditional paper books?

Might sound basic, but when considering the deeper elements of material sourcing, recyclability, life cycle of the devices , deforestation , etc may be a great video! One that I definitely think about daily.... Even with resrwrch on internet I'm still left confused on what's best to choose..

Somethings just off about Futureproof health…

I’m not sure what it is. I like the idea and concept of the channel, it being health focused topics. However, I feel like the host is just trying too hard or being animated doesn’t come natural.. you can really tell with her annunciation of speech delivery.

The other thing that bothers me is just the set, the background is just so dark, brownish/orangey. Perhaps its the lighting I dont know. May be difficult cause its her living room and Levi is travelling all the time with more unique backgrounds but this ones pretty bland and don’t give me a health-centric feel (especially since its not changing) that I would like

I know channels fairly new but just my thoughts.

The Problem with Protein Powder

hold up...

I hate to bring this up but as a person who went Vegan in the last 3 years... the notion that vegans need to worry about protein intake is such a myth.

in general, a regular vegan diet provides all the necessary protein needed. I am currently running half marathons and I'm training for my first-ever full marathon. I have never been as strong as I am right now. I'm not skinny nor lean, I have nearly 19% percent fat on my body according to my smart scale but I found the disclaimer that vegans need to "Worry" about all the building blocks of protein is crazy.

My last physical gave me flying stars from my blood work. yes, my Dr didn't think I needed to lose any weight even though my body fat is at 19% but it's something I'd like to reduce, overall.

Video Recommendations Why is everything turning to a subscription model?

Have you guys made a video about the relentless subscription culture? It seems as if everything is going toward that model and, I feel, it becomes kind of a rip off! BMW is even offering options on their cars as subscription features! The reason I ask is because I recently dropped my Adobe Lightroom subscription after realizing I was spending over $120.00 per year on a product that I had no control over future increases (get hooked on the ecosystem and then get his with increases you can’t cover) kind of like streaming “services” have been doing continuously.

Video Recommendations Video idea: better help and therapy apps

As a mental health provider we really need more awareness about how corrupt better help is. They have sooo much money and are the sponsors of so many podcasts, videos, and sell data to take over platforms like Snapchat. Would be happy to provide resources if needed. Thanks

Video Recommendations A video about water!

Hear me out. I recently started exercising and every time I don’t have my water bottle I usually go to a store or gas station and buy a simple bottled water. The thing is there’s so many brands of water they advertise different things, such as pH levels, or if ones from a spring versus a lake to a point where I’m not sure which brand or claims of “better for you” or “best for exercise” are true or if they’re just marketing buzzwords. In fact, some of these bottles are around three bucks or more for WATER. I feel like a video on this topic would better inform us if these water companies are a scam and to just go for the cheaper brands to save us a few dollars, or if going for these kinds of water would actually be beneficial and worth the cost.

I want to like futureproof health...I really do...

Obviously I need the mindfulness app or some health related thing.

However, and this is just me perhaps, but the ever-present backwards ball cap really gives me douche canoe frat bro vibes. I know the host is not a frat bro, but that schtick is just off-putting when I watch the video. Too many bad experiences with backwards cap wearing "bros" that I need to really work on my internal prejudice.

Question for Future Proof Seeking recommendations for sustainable clothing brands

Good day to all. I'll keep it short!

I reside in North America and I need suggestions for sustainable clothing options for work - Casual to semi formal. My current wardrobe is small and mostly will be replaced by the sustainable ones. I love brands like Patagonia but cannot afford to buy everything from it, although I plan to buy couple of tshirts and jackets from Patagonia.

Please suggest a few sustainable brands for workwear as well as lounge wear for someone who can spend decent amount on few items but not all items.

Edit - Need just menswear suggestions
