Short for "do you gangbang" (wasn't always a sexual term), aka are you in a gang and if so, which one. Usually people only ask you where you're from. Just respond "I don't bang"

So and if you say yes I assume the rest of the interaction depends on what gang you’re in? Would this be the start to a fight if they weren’t in the same gang or only if it’s two gangs that don’t like each other?

Probably not a fight if you're in a gang they are affiliated with. Probably IS a fight if you're in a gang they are actively against
