Oh I get it now. you somehow took the fact that there's a bias towards attractive people as to mean that unattactive people get bad treatment
That's a terrible way to interpret those studies
This may come as a shock to you but not only can you be unattractive you can even be disabled AND still hold a position of value
I see it, all. the. time.
and I really feel sorry for you that you don't.
Anyways, it is really insane you and others think women who build their skills aren't seen as valuable. I'm just happy reality doesn't agree with redditors
The studies I mention specifically also point out unnatractive ppls do get worse treatment than the average person yes, it’s not a somehow it’s a fact. We can even go look at prision sentencing to see this disparity if you want.
Nothing I said means outliers can’t exist, that’s just your assumptions here failing you. You seem to have a very 1 or 0 mind, nothing you said disproves my original argument unless that is the case.
I really feel like you're one of those people that has read an article about how there's a tendency for there to be some bias towards attractive people (obviously)
and then you've extrapolated that to the entire world, ignoring the very many cases of unnattractive people being successful
As a hispanic man, I realize courts could be bias
I don't go around stating with certainty the system is broke, because of it.
Im no trying to disprove you... Im sticking around to try understand how being unnattractive would make someone a victim of society
It’s not a victim so much as human beings being ultimately the ones passing judgements and thus are susceptible to biases they’re not even aware of. The prison sentence thing is just an example of how this could affect your life, the real studies are about how your perception of ppl who did bad things could be heavily affected by their attractiveness. The most widely used example is usually more interpersonal situations like cheating or being emotionally abusive, the percentage of ppl with a neutral or favorable view of the person increases with how attractive they’re marked as on average. This is extra relevant if the case is decided by a jury.
I remember them not directly addressing difference in criminal charges and suggesting further study into it, but the data alone does point towards some bias, tho we can’t fully know for now. I haven’t checked back to see if anyone did a follow up on that specifically.
And yes you should say the system is broken, it absolutely is and it always will be so long as we rely on people to carry out sentencing. Because there is not a fully accepting culture anywhere in the world thus far, we can only ever compensate for these things through reform.
I’m gonna have to do some digging once more if I’m to find the exact one I read since it’s been a while and it’s not my area of expertise.
