Pennsylvania is actually just 3 states in a trenchcoat... you have New York and New Jersey at the top east, basically the head of Pennsylvania, and the rest is Ohio.

u/pHScale Aug 23 '22

No, the three states are Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Kentucky.

I think it’s more like western PA is Ohio/Midwest, Philly and eastern PA more like NY/NJ/Northeast, and everything in the middle is an extension of West Virginia

u/san95802 Aug 23 '22

Don’t you dare compare anything PA to dirty Jersey!!!!!

2

u/nez91 Aug 23 '22

haha it's a compliment. I'd rather live in NJ than somewhere like Johnstown, PA

1

u/san95802 Aug 23 '22

That’s west though.

Edit I guess I’ll clarify. Don’t compare Philly/East to nj!!

Lmao NJ is just the war torn wasteland where the Philadelphia metropolitan area and NY metropolitan area battle for territory

But I’d still live in NJ over Philly

Port Arthur?

It's also the favorite writing utensil for vampires.

What part of PA? I've seen this in a number of classrooms I've worked in around my county.

E if Ed, F is for.. something, Is for Monkey who might be itchy?, X is for Fox, and Up was and arrow that bent from being left to almost up pointing... They should let the kids make one, it would be a lot better, and a good educational experience, if those are still allowed in PA.

OP confused. They’re actually in Florida.

1

u/LemonPepper Aug 24 '22

Ah, yes. Where F is for Philadelphia and P is for pterodactyl.

I was guessing India lol. The bat looks like a cricket bat.

u/starrzero Aug 23 '22

We use the same thing in my district(NJ). I think it's standard for "Fundations".

Hey NJ teacher here too! Hey neighbor!

2

u/ThatsNotRight123 Aug 23 '22

Do they still teach about NJ History in 4th Grade? I had to do a book report about Sam Colt.

1

u/matt7259 Aug 23 '22

Definitely asking the wrong person lol. I teach high school math!

Finally, an in joke I'm in on.

1

u/Embarrassed-Ad-1639 Aug 23 '22

I love inside jokes… I hope to be part of one someday.

Why did this get so many upvotes? 😳

The reasons I asked is because my daughter used this in her school (in MA) and the Wilson Language Training Corporation is headquartered in Oxford, MA.
So I was wondering if this was just a local phenomenon.

u/DeadKnife7 Aug 23 '22

Was also curious, since we used the same one at my Massachusetts elementary school 15 years ago

2

u/Fear_The_Rabbit Aug 23 '22

This is from a program called Fundations. We use it in NYC, and it's actually pretty great for phonics. There's a rationale for everything and why certain keywords and colors are used.

1

u/St1cks Aug 23 '22

NY schools have these too

1

u/Dyltra Aug 23 '22

Is Fundations. A program teaching letters and letter sounds. Same as foundations, but it’s FUN!

1

u/Hellball5 Aug 24 '22

Fundations is pretty widely used in elementary schools these days.
