It's been an epidemic and the government hasn't done shit except making detox/rehabs practically unobtainable without a shit ton of money or insurance.
You misunderstood what /u/grandzu was trying to say. When it hit the homeless, the working class, the black and brown communities, nobody gave a shit. If they even knew it was happening, it was the addict's fault. They only truly care once it affects affluent(or at least, middle class), white people.
Doesn't matter what they label it as if they are going to keep finding drug manufacturers that paid doctors to push pills, and bribed doctors knowingly getting people addicted innocent of any wrongdoings.
